The Butterfly Composer
I'm enjoying the collective FU the railway unions are giving the UK media and government at the moment. It isn't even strictly socialism, just a very solid and apparently unbearable attack on the status quo capitalist system.

I must admit to not being too involved in the politics but I did enjoy Mick Lynch calling out Piers Morgan for spending several minutes of his interview discussing the Thunderbirds. The Butterfly Composer
At this stage, he so outclassed everyone being sent against him that you begin to cringe. It's really hard to watch, despite being important.

Its the abolishing of companies and private wealth that makes things fall apart. I can get behind this

daveb
Unfortunately candidates for vice president also need to be "natural born" US citizens (that is, a US citizen from birth), just like candidates for president, so Omar is not qualified to run for VP on that basis (no matter how qualified she might be otherwise). Dang. Okay, how about her predecessor? He was the first Muslim to be elected to Congress. (Also a very intelligent, capable, stand-up guy, if any of that matters.) Edit: Oh yeah, he's also the guy that successfully prosecuted the guys who murdered George Floyd.

Lilibulero
I would have considered myself socialist some decades ago, but like everything that's been set up for the less fortunate, it's been infiltrated and skewed by the middle classes. So, no.

Are you saying that you disagree with your previous ideals because they were adopted by the middle class, or are you objecting to the actions of a specific political party or movement?

Alaska Native Manitou
Unfortunately any Muslims running for office get falsely accused of anti-Semitism nowadays. https://ca.cair.com/losangeles/news/cair-la-and-jewish-voice-for-peace-jvp-la-condemn-local-adl-leader-for-anti-muslim-smear-tactics/

Galilei
I style myself as a nordic socialist. I sadly was too young to live in Palme's Sweden, but I wish his form of socialism had survived. I have become so disalusioned with most of the Swedish left at the moment, cuddling up to the right wingers to stop the Sweden democrats. not that I don't believe in stopping the fascists in their tracks, but warttering down good left wing policy to gain the right wing vote is not the way to keep my vote, thank you.
