I had a strange looking one, though don’t remember much, I’ve had loads.  One that is ‘pay money to claim $15,000,000’ plenty of Bitcoin ones, plenty of ‘hot sexy babes in your area’, viagra ads, plenty of scams like ‘your iTunes account has been locked’ that looked like a fake Amazon delivery order confirmation.

Also, this. It's hard remembering them when they're rather unoriginal.

I doubt you're as attractive as I am with a hangover. What can I say, some people clearly just dig the 'I need to be taken outside and shot to put an end to my suffering' look that I manifest the morning after the night before.

You're right. I can't beat that.

I got one a few months ago saying that they have proof of me doing "naughty things" but if I give them bitcoin they wouldnt share they proof. They also claimed they hacked my contact list. I freaked out so hard, especially cuz I did try "stuff" at one time and I was scared of my parents finding out. But after I calmed down, I realized it was a scam lol.

My spam folder is full of them, they don’t faze me much anymore. I do vaguely remember once getting a viagra advertisement and just thinking “I don’t even have the body part that could potentially make me need that”.

That is weird because I haven't heard much around that way of doing it, I mean blackmailing essentially.

I guess in a way virus scare scams are a bit like that though, but then you're talking to the people who're supposed to make it better.

I've got plenty of scam e-mails about parcels, unpaid invoices, Bitcoin, people who apparently tried to call me about something and some strange sex ads. But I have to say my favourite scam e-mail was apparently from some insurance company, but in the text there was just a link that said "Download virus". It's like they weren't even trying at all.

Not many get past my filters, but I've got a few telling me my TV license payment is overdue recently. They're actually quite well put together, I can  see someone not tech savvy falling for it, but then they ruin it all by not even trying to cover up the @hotmail.com email addresses. I've also had a few scam texts recently from "HSBC" about "unusual payments/withdrawals" from my account. Alas I have never had an account with HSBC.

I usually don't pay attention to them, though at some point in one they have guessed most part of my password, and it's not an easy one... nothing happened afterwards though.

This topic reminds me of this ;)))

I had one at work recently which was sent to me in capital letters, entirely in French. I ran it through Google translate out of pure curiosity. As far as I could tell, it was warning me about tax scams in Tunisia but didn't actually tell me what it wanted from me. So not the most effective scam ever, if I'm honest.

Benefits of having a native language that is hard to translate from English with Google Translate: easy to identify scams as they are just so ridiculously worded.

Tip: 1) Set up your own domain and e-mail server.

2) Create unique aliases for every purpose (or use a catch all and simply fill out any form with whatever@yourdomain).

3) See who's selling your personal info.

Years ago, I used to get weird scam e-mails, but nowadays scammers seem to have all switched to making phone calls.

And they usually do it to me while I’m driving, so I’ve gotten into the habit of putting my phone into Airplane mode whenever I go anywhere. The scammers are then free to beg, intimidate, harass, blackmail, and threaten my voicemail all they want. I can always block them once I park my car.

Okay, got the typical "we contaminated your PC when you were on a porn site" scam email today. Helloooooo. I'm an ace, and I'm the type of ace that is disinterested in that stuff. Joke's on you.

I don't have the mail anymore, but one day I got a scam mail demanding bitcoins and if I didn't comply, they'd attack me and destroy my face with acid.

Joke's on them, I'm a potato as is.

I am currently looking for a job and a few days ago I got this strange EMail with a job offer that I never applied for.  They said they received my Resume, but then went on to ask for my name, address and phone number.  That was the the huge red flag for me as all of that is on my Resume.  I googled the name of the company on the EMail and it did not add up either.  Definitely need to be paying attention while job hunting.

For the past couple of days, I've been getting 5 or 6 scam texts a day, all about a "state car rebate" or some such.

just got an e-mail about a missed package

Story of my life :D I receive emails like this at least once a week and it's always someone who claims to be Bpost. I always check the email address then - Bpost would have the company name in their address, scammers don't.  Their addresses are totally random.
