Forest Spirit
This thread is split from the 2021 thread. It is for any story related to asexuality which might not deserve its own thread. Quasar.w Moderator of World Watch and the Alternate Language Forum
Cicero
A blog from the Royal College of Physicians library published as part of LGBT+ History Month looks at an 1886 book in their historical collection, Psychopathia sexualis with especial reference to contrary sexual instinct: a medico-legal study. Brief mention of asexuality in the blog: The descriptions of people who today might describe themselves as having a range of sexual and gender identities (such as gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, intersex, trans and others) seem crude, reductive and insulting. Forest Spirit
Asexuality is mentioned in a post about LGBT+ history month on metro.co.uk: https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/01/lgbt-history-month-when-did-it-begin-and-what-is-the-2021-theme-13998635/ Basically, they explain the acronym "LGBTQIA" and go into a bit more detail about Q, I and A. The definition for asexuality is however... not that good: "Anyone who identifies as asexual will not experience sexual arousal at all." So leaving out any grey area and making it about arousal which I've never heard before and find kind of odd... But hey, we're acknowledged to exist!?🙃

Forest Spirit
Another two acknowledgements of the A standing for asexual in a post about LGBT+ history month! (yes I'm happy about the little things) https://www.post-gazette.com/local/city/2021/02/08/Appointees-Pittsburgh-new-LGBTQIA-commission-introduced-to-City-Council-Tuesday/stories/202102080080 It also features one definition of asexuality. The three comments so far are however... mean, sadly. https://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/19071829.lgbt-history-month---can-take-part/
Cicero
Asexuality is mentioned briefly in this clip about Pride from a Joe Lycett show (around eight minutes in):
weird elf
This alphabet song was linked on a LGBTQ+ subreddit and while it does not mention sexualities, P is now for Pride and the ace flag is shown along with a bunch of others.

Forest Spirit
A list of shows and films with LGBT+ characters in it mentions the series BoJack Horseman (aka the A in the acronym is recognised😉) https://the-peak.ca/2021/02/shows-and-films-with-inclusive-lgbtq2s-representations/
Tystie
Asexuality gets a mention in BBC Radio 4’s lastest Word of Mouth programme. This episode is called ‘LGBTQIA+ slang’, and it’s available as a podcast. Also, in case anyone’s interested, Oban Pride has been doing livestreams for LGBT History Month. Last week they looked at flags; today they looked at language. Both times, they’ve included asexuality, which has warmed the cockles of my heart. If interested, the livestreams are on Oban Pride’s website: https://www.obanpride.com
Forest Spirit
Asexuality gets mentioned in a post about aromanticism here: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/lifestyle/family-relationships/3-people-on-what-aromantic-means-to-them/ar-BB1dYcNP as well as in a post about LGBT+ representation in media here: https://www.shethepeople.tv/lgbtqia/queer-people-tell-us-how-queer-representation-needs-to-change/
Forest Spirit
Asexuality gets mentioned in an article about Doctor Who, as the Doctor has been interpreted as ace before. https://gcn.ie/queer-classic-next-doctor-who/
spooky_moss
There's a group on facebook called "Plans to create and worship our leviathon lobster god". The group is lgbtqia+ friendly (when there are homophobes, they get kicked out quickly), and one member has done a series of lobster ornaments painted as pride flags. The same member made a post yesterday for International Asexuality Day featuring their ace, aro, demiromantic and demisexual lobster ornaments! Yes this is pretty niche, but it is a public fb group so you could probably find the post if you wanted.
Forest Spirit
The asexual community is mentioned in this article about biromanticism (as the term emerged from using the split attraction model) https://www.health.com/mind-body/lgbtq-health/biromantic
Forest Spirit
Asexuality and Aromanticism are featured in this list about LGBTQ+ inclusive language https://www.corvallisadvocate.com/2021/lgbtq-inclusive-language/
Cicero
Asexuality is mentioned in this (depressing) article about a teacher who defaced a group of pride flags that students had chalked on the ground. https://www.indy100.com/news/teacher-heteros-rule-pride-drawings-b1843258

Acing It
One day recognition by google! 🙂 Google is celebrating Frank Kameny today. Cicero
Tullie House Museum (Carlisle, UK) have been sharing photos from their Pride and Protest event on their Instagram channel this week. I've spotted a few asexual flags in some of them and they've been using the #acepride hashtag in their posts too. daveb
I hope this fits here. A little something for people who like ASMR, with mentions of asexuality, greysexual, aromantic, etc.
Barbio
Well, here's a new one: Apparently IKEA made a line of pride-themed... couches??? Including an asexual couch. Because we needed one of those, I guess. (Here are some of the others- don't look at the bi, NB or genderfluid ones, they're scary: https://www.cnn.com/style/article/ikea-pride-couches/index.html)
Kelly
There is a TV show called Never Have I Ever. In Season 2 (just released) Eleanor's friends notice some text messages by one Isabella on her boyfriend's phone. They suspect that he is two-timing Eleanor. But we learn that the texter (Isabella) is just his agent and is a 70-something "out and proud asexual".
Barbio
Dunno if this counts as a "little mention", but I found it amusing & I'm sure some other aces will, too. It's the cold open from a recent episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and the words "Asexual" and "Platonic" appear in some of the mock song titles.
