Anyone else find nakedness weird?

Recommended Posts

I used to be quite uncomfortable with it. I never liked changing in front of people even good friends/family and I hated the doctors and locker rooms even as a young kid. Not sure where this feeling came from. Seeing my own nudity would even make me slightly uncomfortable.

I've grown a lot more comfortable with it in recent years though. I don't have any issues with it in media, and am fine with my own nudity now too. I will just chill nude after showering quite often. And with sexual partners I am not shy and am usually totally fine being nude with them even outside of anything sexual. I think I would still feel a lot of discomfort being nude around friends or family or seeing them nude though. And I haven't been in a locker room type situation in years, but I would probably also feel a bit uncomfortable with that, but I think less so then I used to be.

Ha ha 😝 yeah i dont bother shaving my legs either, i just can't stand the feel of the razor against my skin it creeps me out, the only thing i can tolerate is this hair removal cream which i tried a couple of times  usually can't be bothered though. But my hair is blonde so you dont actually notice it very much anyway

Mine is dark, very visible. To the point that a butch friend kinda envied me. ;) When I used to remove my leg hair, no method was really good for me. I used hair removal cream, but now I wouldn't dare - if it can turn hair into goo, just think what it may do to skin itself. Razor was not very effective, an electric shaver hurt (!). For some time I used to go to a little beauty salon - the owner would serve my mom and me for free because my mom, as an ophthalmologist, had correctly diagnosed her daughter and saved her vision. But using wax hurts and every time I had a rash afterwards. Later my mom tried to tell me to try laser, she said that yes, it hurts, but afterwards one is done with hair removal... but I had already reached a stage at which I could say: no, I don't want to have smooth legs! I love being a rebel!

It's interesting how differently people feel about this.

Nudity doesn't bother me at all, as long as it isn't disrespectfully sexualized. Strippers don't bother me, "sexy" nudes in movies don't bother me, but porno does, to clarify. Even then I'd call my feelings towards porno annoyance rather that distress.

I'm not sure if I even have a preference in what's more attractive, clothed or nude, as long as in both cases the person isn't being disrespectfully sexually objectified. I guess I see the same person whether clothed or naked. It appears this kind of objectification really offends me. The mild, flirty, respectful kind that makes a person feel good about themselves is okay, but nothing else.

I'm very comfortable being nude in any non sexual context. In a sexual context, not likely. Though I'm comfortable with being "sexy" as long as it is something I control, something I choose to express, an expression of personal power. I doubt there is any such situation in which sexualized nudity will feel like an expression of that to myself.

I suppose it could happen in some way I haven't imagined yet. I think I would be a very disgusted and angry stripper.

I hate naked bodies. I hate genitalia.

Nakedness, including my own, to me is not just weird, but intolerably disgusting. Beaches and such places are no-go-areas. In summer occasionally even the street clothes some people wear, or better fail to wear, make me uncomfortable, I have to be on guard where I look. Luckily we have a cool climate here.

And nobody except my wife and when necessary medical staff ever get to see more of me than my head or my hands. For almost 30 years now I have not had to look at (even less touch) myself incompletely dressed.

I do not feel disconnected from myself, however, as described by KayleeK, it is my body and I am comfy in it as long as it is properly covered.

Other people's nudity is too much information.  My own does not happen unless I'm sure no one can see.  Getting big anxiety about this as apparently in the past few years, more and more airports got those immoral scanners that can take indecent images of people and they don't say what happens if you opt out.  Got a holiday booked soon and not sure if it'll happen, if I'll be stranded or if I'll be violated and have to buy a bottle of liquor from duty free and knock back the 2 boxes of co-codamol I always carry when flying in case something goes wrong.

I think typically if you opt out you would be subject to a pat down instead. Though I know here and the US they changed the scanners and the software to address people's privacy concerns with the images these scanners could produce. Not sure if it would be the same thing in the UK though. But here, they just see something like this now:

@MarRister The issue is that they still take indecent images somewhere (that's how the technology is intended to work), even if they don't show them directly to the person doing the search.  What happens to said images?  We don't know.  They originally said no images would be retained, but a Bollywood star travelling through Heathrow claimed that staff had printed out some pictures and asked him to sign them.
