brian_w
Having attended several meets here in the UK, it struck me that there seem to be a fairly large number of asexuals who either don't smoke or prefer to be in a non-smoking environment. Just out of interest, I thought I'd raise this as a poll to see if there is any correlation between smokers/non-smokers and being asexual. So, good people out there in Avenland, what's your preference? I'm a non-smoker, and much prefer to be in a non-smoking environment if possible.
mindlife
I prefer to be in a non-smoking environment most of the time, but occasionally I like a pipe of black cavendish.
birdnerd
Non-smoker, hate to be around the stuff.
rosegirl
I loathe the smell of smoking, and the fact that it makes your hair and clothes stink too. I was in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, and the difference it makes to go into clubs and pubs where no-one is smoking is fantastic. I can't wait for July 1st here in England, so we can have the same. All my love, Kate
Apophyllite
non-smoker, and I hate being around cigarette smoke. pot isn't as bad, but I'd still prefer to be in a non-smoking environment.
Goonie
they are fixing to go smoke free in the county here at the begining of 2007
Derp
What's the percentage of people in general who don't smoke? :? I'd think it to be higher than the percentage of smokers. In which case, it wouldn't be too surprising to find the same numbers among asexuals. Also, I must say I'm curious to know what "other" might entail...
Placebo
The no-smoking factor could be related to the anti-smoking campaigns that have been out for as long as some of us have been alive. Smoking seems to be less prevalent than previously.
mouth brooder
Smoking is the number one cause of death in China. Bhutan banned tobacco almost two years ago. I am not happy living in a tobacco belt state. I have to duct tape my wall outlets to keep second hand smoke from oozing into my apartment.
Vrakin
I put other becuase I have had lots of relatives that smoke and the smell sometimes reminds me of them. Especially my grandma who died while I was young and I don't remember her all that well. As far as actually smoking I rarely do tho I may have one while i'm drinking. brian_w
And I put 'other' in the poll just to cover the 'what about......?' things that are bound to crop up if I hadn't included it :)

Jean Grey
Once every two years or so I start smoking, but have to quit after a few days (usually 2.5) because I can no longer climb stairs or talk.
Parth
My lungs are seriously not strong enough to cope with smoke. Even being in a room of second-hand smoke makes my lungs hurt.
Octarine
Smoking... *shakes head* I'm a californian, I think I've met one person that smokes (well, cigarettes, I know of a lot of other kinds of junkies in my school) in my entire life.
hydrae
Non smoker who perfers a smoke free environment, but I'll be around smokers if I have to.
spinneret
Nonsmoker, avoid cigarette smoke like the plague. And marijuana. I do actually like the scent of pipe tobacco, though. It's weird, since I never knew anyone who smoked a pipe, but it's somehow mixed in that "good warm fuzzy" part of my brain. *shrugs*
deladangerous
Nonsmoker, avoid cigarette smoke like the plague. And marijuana. Yes. Although normal-people cigarettes are like INSTANT DRY-HEAVE, whereas mary jane is kinda like "oh, smells like burning hair, whatever..." which isn't too bad until I recall that if I stick around it too long, I'ma get contact buzz, which I totally don't want. So yeah, I avoid both plagues.
agentkgb
I'm a non-smoker, and I prefer not to be anywhere near it.
ChildOfTheLight
It doesn't bother me too much, but for the sake of my own lungs and my moderate ability as a distance runner, I don't smoke. Never had any real desire to, either.
Zedekai
Smoker.... but only the expensive high quality ones, if I'm going to do it I might as well, get the best.
AntiBubble
Smoker, but trying to quit so I get my singing voice back  I miss having a three octave range
2tabbymom
Nonsmoker. I used to be able to smell smoke on anyone, but not as much now. I've worked in a casino for 7 years and have gotten to the point where I can't smell it on myself anymore even though I know I reek! I really notice it when I go back to work after my weekend and it just hits me in the face when I walk in the door. I hate that people probably think I smoke when I've never touched a cigarette. Charlieee
Non-smoker, of course But I won't be smoking any time soon :D I don't like to be around smokers, either. It's strange, because I sort of like the smell of the smoke, except it makes me start to choke and get watery eyes. I can't come within a few feet of someone smoking without coughing a lot. And, despite the fact that my town is apparently big on drug dealing (when did that happen?? ), I have no clue how I'd be around other smoke (like marijuana/mary jane/reefer and stuff), but I could imagine it being worse. Phlying Ace
Nonsmoker. I prefer a smoke-free environment, but it doesn't really bother me all that much.
LostPenguin
Non-smoker. I've considered smoking cigarrettes now and then for some reason, I don't really know why... I guess just to try them out, but I'm not really interested. I prefer to stay out of second-hand smoke as much as possible, both because it's bad for your health and I've spent so much time around asthmatics I just automatically avoid it like the plague... Like some people here, though, pipe smoke doesn't bother me, it has kind of a nice scent to it, and I don't mind hanging around people who are smoking marijuana... I don't get contact highs. And for some reason the smell of leather that's sucked up the scent of cigarrettes appeals to me *sooo* much. I don't know why.
