Hi so I know this is prob not the best section to post this on but I could not figer out where to.

I'm doing a school project and the topic I have chosen is why LGBTQA+ orientations should be learnt about in school with my main focus being ace.

So my quition is does anyone know of any others web sites on Asexuality and exspereabces other then aven. I'm not allowed to use blogs as sources so I'm a little stuck. I have to have at least 4 sources.

Hey there!

I think the "Visibility and Education" part of the forum will probably be helpful. It looks like they have lots of resources listed there.

Specifically, the non-fiction section of The New Asexual Bookshelf post looks like it could have lots of good sources for your project!

Or the Links and Resources Masterpost!

Good luck!

@Kate465 You could also check your local library for the following books on asexuality, if you need sources that your teacher is more likely to accept:

  • The Invisible Orientation, by Julie Sondra Decker
  • Understanding Asexuality, by Anthony Bogaert
  • Asexualities: Feminist and Queer Perspectives, edited by Megan Milks and KJ Cerankowski
  • Asexual Erotics, by Ela Przybylo (mostly the introduction)
  • Ace: What Asexuality Reveals about Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex, by Angela Chen (this actually isn't being released to the public until next week (on the 15th), so this will depend on how soon your project is due)

If you have access to academic journals through a university or local library, you could also try looking at any of the academic articles in the Asexual Research Bibliography, but that might be overkill for a high school or even a casual undergrad project.

Also, ask your instructor if things like press articles from newspapers are acceptable sources - if they are, you can find a wealth of them in the World Watch Archives (look for the index threads for each year)

As far as website, if your teacher allows general websites (that don't look too much like blogs), you could also try:

You may want to run these by your teacher to get their ok though, as opinions may vary on whether these would be appropriate citations.

i went to the local libery to see if they had the books you suggested and they only had one on the whole subject so i have suggested they get more.

I would look at Trevorspace or The TrevorProject. :-)

Here is a list of aspec (asexual and aromantic spectrums) lists and databases, including an Aspec 101 section I've pasted in.

A video essayist (no mention of being aspec or allo). Cites AVEN. Respectful. Includes the complexities of aspec identities and actively counters misconceptions.
