Dawning
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-8603733/Transgender-people-likely-autistic-study-reveals.html We've been saying on this forum for YEARS that nonbinary people are autistic at a much higher rate than the general population, and vice versa… What do you think? Guest
There is definitely a correlation between Autism and transgender identities! Multiple studies have revealed this. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10803-019-04298-1 https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2019-07/aru-sft071619.php (There are more but I am very, very low on spoons today.) Guest
Transgender individuals in Australia were reported to be Autistic at a prevalence of 4.8%, compared to the cisgender equivalent of 0.7%. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6308273/
Guest
Yep correlations between autism and transgender identities, and autism and non-hetero orientations, have been well established in the research literature for years.
Phantasmal Fingers
Fake Ted might be autistic - but he's also not arsed about it! 🙂 But @Take Fed is definitely very arsed about it. 😉
Karst
Disclaimer- I'm not an expert of psychology/neuroscience. Personally, I suspect that, since people on the autism spectrum tend to be less wedded to social norms, this might manifest as a higher coming-out rate. There's also the possibility (not mutually exclusive) that having sensory/social issues makes gender dysphoria worse.
