I think the song is actually supposed to be about how love isn't some perfect fairytale so people should just embrace the fun or fleeting nature of dating? I don't really know to be honest 😄 But I always like to pretend that many of the lyrics are actually about being aro/ace. Especially a fan of yelling the line "I'm about to play my ace" which in context is definitely referring to the card, but... ya know! localacegal12 Posted August 20, 2023 Share Posted August 20, 2023 a personal few i've found really speak to me no one had mentioned much so far are: We'll never have sex by Leith Ross (seriously, go check that song out, by far the best romantic asexual song ever and while you're checking that out go listen to the rest of their music, its so damn good) Luv luv luv by Pansy Division (not explicitly about asexuality but give off great vibes and has a lot to say about dating culture and living in a allosexual heteronormative society) Most things by Queen (specifically Mother Love, Somebody to Love and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy) God must hate me by Catie Turner (again not explicitly asexual but just a great song, ties into the idea of feeling broken or not complete that often comes with asexuality) Body by Mother Mother (yeah i realize not a lot of these are about asexuality but it still gives off some good vibes) I Do Adore by Mindy Gledhill (great vibes and a song that doesn't feature any mention of sex, just very soft and sweet) I'd like to walk around in your mind by Vashti Bunyan (oldie but pretty damn good and has great vibes and ideas about love) Most things by Cavetown (Smoke Signals is one that speaks to me especially) What was I made for by Billie Eilish (again, great song and really hits you in the feels for what it's like to be asexual in an allosexual society) have fun out there with these! I mean, I know that the song is about a sexual "friends with benefits" relationship or something along those lines, but without thinking about that message, the song just gives off an "I don't want to be in a romantic or sexual relationship with you, I was just trying to be friendly and start a friendship with you" kind of vibe. You do not want to know the amount of people I've been friends with, who assumed that my friendly personality around them was more than just friendly. bloodline just reminded me of all the times I've had to reject people and tell them that they mistook my gestures as romantic.
