MojoSolid
I heard a fanfic writer on the A-OK podcast say that a lot of Aces tend to avoid reading about sexual scenes involving your own gender. She for instance would only get interested in scenes with guys, and I felt I could totally relate as my taste in porn/erotica tends to be girl/girl. Is this a common preference for Ace guys? RoseGoesToYale
A lot of aces tend to avoid sexual scenes period, and even among aces that do consume erotica, I doubt you'll find a strong correlation there. It's fairly common for heterosexual viewers/readers to prefer gay erotica, i.e. it's just more of the same gender the viewer finds sexually attractive.
Zagadka
I wouldn't say that the prevalence for preferring lesbian relationships is any higher than it is for the hetero male population. That stuff tends to be really popular. I find myself cheering for gay relationships for either gender. They're "fun" and I like seeing characters be happy. This was a lot different 20 years ago, where that kind of thing was really rare, while almost everything has a token gay relationships these days. But that is relationship, not sex, so... Really don't know my porn/erotica favor though. I guess I would say that I would rather watch two women than a hetero scene, just because it is more interesting as far as the pleasure goes. I think that is the case for a lot of guys.
Lilsi
I read fanfic for M/M pairings mostly, but i also read a good amount of F/M too, the least i read is F/F oddly. In life my personal preference is for a romantic female relationship, i have in the past dated a guy but the poor sod really had to make himself shine for me to notice him and he was more personality attraction rather than aesthetic. But my last relationship was with a woman and generally as a whole i am a lot more attracted to women and i am more comfortable with women as a whole and while in a relationship with them i find it much easier. Edit: I should say, i don't avoid sex scenes in shows, films or fanfiction. I am not sex repulsed when it comes to fictional characters, just sex adverse to anyone touching me . Lord Jade Cross
Not really into porn/erotica since most of it is pretty much repetitively boring. I dont think there would be much of a difference between straight and gay scenes
R_1
I don't think ace guys in general would avoid M/F, actually, I would argue that many can enjoy M/F pairings solely because the man is represented and they in theory could imagine being the guy bonding with the woman. The census is probably the same as the average population. M/F is quite popular due to representation reason and the ability to relate to it. As for myself, I don't care if there's a dude in it. I'm more focused on the woman, and the male is just a prop for me to bring myself into the situation if I wanted to do that. 39 minutes ago, RoseGoesToYale said: It's fairly common for heterosexual viewers/readers to prefer gay erotica, i.e. it's just more of the same gender the viewer finds sexually attractive. There's a saying here. Two is better than one.

Skycaptain
Who's involved is less important than the quality of the writing/acting.
Ace of Mind
Uh, yeah not so sure about that statistic. Personally I have a 'preferred flavor' of erotica in the same way that I have a 'preferred flavor' of drain cleaner, which is to say I go out of my way to avoid consuming any amount of either. Starbogen
In my case I prefer reading m/m but watching f/f. For some reason the reverse doesn't interest me.

This was sort of my reasoning. One of the things that led me to investigate Asexuality was that basically, I'm not in my fantasies. When I fantasize sexually, I don't think "I'd like to do this to her" or "I'd like her to do this to me," but rather; I'd like to see that. Basically I can appreciate women and I can appreciate sex, but I don't want to have sex with women, so instead I imagine women having sex. Does this sound about right? TheCatBehind
I'm more into m/m to be honest. Dunno why, but having my body represented and doubled down on is a better experience for me.
letusdeleteouraccounts
I’m more into m/m as well. I actually can be repulsed by w/w
Skycaptain
I wonder if romantic orientation may have any bearing on the sort of stuff you like reading about.
Tunhope
@MojoSolid could you tell me if you were listening to the pod that went out on Dec 6th ( number 24) titled ' I thought he was a lousy lover' ? If so, it was the one I did. Jude Tresswell. I felt very shy about mentioning it. It's full of clicks cos I did it on my phone!
MojoSolid
@Tunhope nah, it was Episode 4: The Sexual side of Fanfiction. That's why erotica was the topic of conversation. Just started getting into the show and just discovered that Jessica Rabbit is an Ace icon 🥰. Loving it so far and about to listen to Episode 33 ('cause I dig RPGs)
Tunhope
Interesting. I'd said very much the same thing. I never mentioned doing it on the AVEN forum cos for some reason I'm self- conscious about promoting anything I do ( dont know why) I' ve said it now though!
Low End Things
I've never felt the want for F/F sexual interaction that straight guys supposedly feel and for me this is no exception. I'll only read erotica related to my fetish, and in that case I'm only into M/F stories as I'll put myself in the story I'm reading (although once the actual sex starts in the story I get bored and skip it lol). Zebigbos
I feel like I tend to prefer f/f relationahips overall, even though the sexual act itself is not my cuppa tea no matter who is involved. Oddly enough, i prefer watching/reading about f/f relationahips even when it is only a purely romantic relationahip, with no sexual intent on sight. I think in the end I just tend to like better female characters in general, no matter the relationship they're in. Not sure why.
will123
Any of the porn I purchased was girl on girl. Mind you this was when I still thought I was straight. I had no interest in watching 'straight' porn (male x female).
