Research Request: Owning Our Power

We have received a research request for transgender/nonbinary students in the United States, aged 18-25. You will be taken through a demographic screening test before seeing the main survey.

Trigger warning: this study asks questions about personal experiences of sexual assault and may be triggering for AVEN users. The researchers have let us know the following information,

There are sections that ask about what types of sexual assault the person experienced and what happened during the assault. This kind of information is important to understand so that we understand what types of sexual assault scenarios trans/nb undergrads are most commonly facing, so we can develop interventions that actually prevent that kind of violence (and not the kinds of violence that cis straight women typically face).

From the researchers:

My name is Sarah and I work with the Center for Sexuality and Health Disparities at the University of Michigan.  We are currently recruiting for a study asking trans/nonbinary undergraduates to share their experiences with or perspectives on campus sexual assault. We plan to use this information to create the first intervention designed to reduce risk of sexual assault for these students.

Our study is designed for people who identify as trans/nonbinary/gender-diverse, are 18-25 years old, and are current undergraduates in the US. There is very little research regarding trans experiences of sexual violence in college, and all interventions currently available are for cisgender women. We hope to change the narrative around campus sexual assault and make college campuses safer for trans/nonbinary students.

The survey takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete and you will receive $25 for your participation.
