I'm mostly starting this thread for fun, but it would also be interesting to see if young people are exposed to fewer weird myths these days, because of slowly improving sex education and the ability to google things. Anyway, here are some of the weird myths I heard when I was younger:- You're not a virgin anymore if you use tampons. You're not a virgin anymore if you've had an orgasm. Losing your virginity doesn't count if the guy doesn't come inside you. (My personal favourite by far) If you're a virgin, you can run through a swarm of bees without getting stung. TMI anatomical terms: Spoiler The biggest myth is that women are born with a biological seal called the hymen. The hymen does exist, but it's not sealed at all, it's just a bit of tissue surrounding the vaginal opening. In fact, in the case that one does wind up sealed, it has to be addressed with surgery to prevent complications. Another myth is that all females are born with hymens. Some don't have one at all. -raises hand- Yet another... the idea that virgins are tightest of all and that the vagina becomes increasingly more stretched out the more a woman has intercourse. I'm sure I've heard something about losing one's virginity during a full moon and impact on fertility or something... However, I was not aware that a similar logic is use in regards to summoning demons... I just assumed that anyone can summon it and bound themselves to the demon or something like that. It pisses me off so much. Introverted males are never portrayed in a positive light these days. No one ever talks about the accomplishments of autistic guys in STEM, in business, etc. Hell, every single autistic person in the media nowadays is female. When it comes to males who are introverted or autistic, all I ever hear is "Look at this loser who ran over a bunch of people because he couldn't get laid." That's all the media focuses on, even though incels are a tiny subset of the celibate/autistic populations, and incels who actually commit mass murder are an even tinier subset of the incel community. Sorry you've had to go through this nonsense 😱 ! The only time I can ever remember being asked if I was a virgin, I was 38. By someone who had known me since we were both about 12. (I'm not at all happy about this being treated as a yes/no question because there are so many different kinds of sexual experience. The whole idea of virginity being One Thing needs to die in a fire.) So we ended up having a kind of "depends on your definition" conversation.
