Hey,

Not sure if this has been posted about already but couldn’t find any related posts.  Just to let you know there is a programme on Netflix called the sex education show.

A second series has just been released and apparently there is an Asexuality storyline in there 👍

There is and supposedly it is done well.

However... the show is very graphic (nudity, sex, genitals, etc) so dont watch if you arent comfortable with sex in all forms.

Yeah, unfortunately, they went ahead and stuck this "representation" in the exact sort of show that I don't think would particularly appeal to the sort of demographic that's being represented.

Good for visibility for the 99% I guess, but not terribly great for the 1% looking for something comfortable to watch that actually bothers to mention them -- I'd say things like Bojack Horseman and The Outer Worlds (to use a videogame example) has this show beat in that regard.  Then again, maybe I'm just weird and most of the 1% isn't actually like me.  It's happened before ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well... a lot of asexuals watch porn so probably won't mind. But, yeah. I wouldn't watch it, it is far too graphic for me and I'm not even ace. But, it is a popular show and many people will see it so visibility.

I'm not really sure you could put something like this into the same category as porn.  I don't think people would watch a show like this and watch porn for the same sorts of purposes.

But regardless, like I said in another thread, I'm not going to celebrate until we're sure this doesn't just turn into another House MD scenario.

Actually, as one of those, I gotta say that I didn't like the show partly for it graphicness. Hypocritical I know.

How i've viewed sexuality in any media is more for laughs. It just seems overly exaggerated from my own personal experience with it, with gems like three of Netflix's shows like Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth and Sex Education, and another inclusion from gaming media for me is No More Heroes. The show Sex Education to me does what i think it is trying to show, the absurdity of sexuality in adults and teenagers. I think the show wants to show the honesty in all forms of sexuality because we are so closed off with it in our society. Its complicated.
