Am I asexual?

Recommended Posts

What it do everybody,

Made this account pretty much just to ask this, because I've always thought it was weird that I've never really thought about sex or had a desire to masturbate, but I only recently considered the possibility that I could be asexual.

I'm nearly 15, male, and I'd say I hit puberty quite early.

A lot of my friends talk about their masturbation and porn habits, but I've never seen the appeal of masturbating or sex in general.  Whenever I think about it it makes me squeamish and tense up, and I can barely watch sex scenes in movies and TV without squinting (so I'm almost certain I'm sex-repulsed).  I've never felt the urge to masturbate or anything like that (it makes me so squeamish) and I've never masturbated, had sexual fantasies or sexual dreams.  There's a girl who I really like, but whenever I've imagined us, it's always something romantic or sensual (hugging etc) and nothing sexual.  Anything pornographic I've watched hasn't aroused me at all and just makes me wonder how people can enjoy watching it.  I think I could be asexual but I'm really not sure.

I'm sorry if this isn't very much information but it's all I'm comfortable providing.

I know I'm young and I'm confused if I'm just a "late bloomer" who'll develop a libido and sexual attraction later on, or asexual, or something else.  I talked to a friend about it and they said I should wait and see, which I'll do, but in the meantime I'd be interested to hear people's opinions.

Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Here's an ace cake for you (cake is a tradition for welcoming people here on the forum)! 🎂

Your friends are right, there's no rush to know yourself. Take your time and eventually everything will make sense as your understanding about yourself grows better (though it seems like you've been pondering things a lot already and I get the impression you recognize you're ace but just feel like you're too young to be sure?). The only case I'd say it's wrong to say "you're still too young to know, just wait" is if you already know yourself and want to finally come out, but people don't believe you and say this as an excuse to belittle your sexual orientation.
