Know i know that some might not agree with me, but this is my personal opinion on why i simply don’t believe that nudity is forbidden. The first reason is that nudity is natural and it’s not something that are perverted to me. In both paintings and sculptures the human body was seen as god’s beautifully masterpieces. I admire the men’s body, not because they’re sex objects, but because i’m interested in their bodies and because it’s like the taste of the sweetness of the fruits and honey. Their bodies(both men’s and women’s body) tells me that it doesn’t matter how you look like and that you should love your own body without feeling ashamed(no matter what size you are, the color of your skin and i could mention more). I don’t believe in plastic surgery. For me i just want to look the way i look without changing the things on my body that can be done by surgery. Cause i love my body and how i look like(i must admit that i sometimes wish that i had no breasts, but i know that i would regret it i got them removed). But anyway back to this topic. The second reason is that it’s stupid to categorize nudity as a taboo and something that is forbidden. Because it isn’t, people have body parts for a reason. And god have made people that way. It’s so sad to me that it has been so sexualized nowadays. I know that every country has their taboos, but i think the nudity is god’s masterpiece.

Now it’s you guys turn:

What do you guys think about nudity? And why is it a taboo? Or is it even a taboo where you guys live?

And remember what i have written above is just my own opinion. I can’t change yours.

I would prefer to keep mine covered as much as possible, I'm not particular fond of it. But I'm not going to condemn someone who likes the nude human form. Its a matter of taste really.

Your view is probably healthier in some ways, but I don't really like human's bodies so I prefer them clothed for aesthetic reasons :P

It's probably ingrained from being used to seeing humans clothed all the time. But to me, it's the same as cats...

Naked ones are ew, gross, fragile, vulnerable, and kinda look like they are dying all the time?

Cats  with fur are adorable cuddle puddles who make me awwwww all day

But I agree with you that people shouldn't be ashamed of their bodies nor should we see them as only sexual objects. I don't like plastic surgery either and I wish entertainment was less into only showing the "most attractive of the times" types and more into celebrating all bodies.

However... I'm very happy with society continuing to emphasize that we keep clothed, personally.

everywhere and nowhere

I don't care. Just let me remain a nudity-averse person - that is, someone who doesn't perceive nudity as disgusting or anything, but won't undress in another person's presence under any circumstances. Let me be nudity-averse and don't judge me for it, don't tell me that I'm "repressed" or that I'm supposedly repressing other people.

I agree that nudity is not a bad thing, and I would prefer if it wasn't taboo. That doesn't mean I personally want to be naked around other people, though.

Also, I think all cats are cute. Naked cats deserve to be loved just as much as any other.

I don't wanna see any naked body, including (or maybe especially) my own. Never found human bodies remotely attractive or pleasing to look at.

I have trouble with the terms "should" or "supposed to".  That implies there's one right answer and no nuance.  Most of life is nuance. ;)  I think there's valid reasons to show nudity (celebrate our bodies) and valid reasons not to (some poor people really would have trouble concentrating if there was naked bodies all around them).  I think it's worth having a discussion on the costs of the taboo, without saying "there should not be a taboo".

Hairless cats are none of those things, they're adorable and just as precious as other cats. Also they're just as healthy and strong.

I'm not saying they aren't healthy and strong, that's just how I perceive them :P I'm also not saying my way of perceiving them is correct and I'm glad there are other people out there to give those cats the love they deserve. I just won't be keeping around a hairless cat. Nor any cat, I'm a dog person anyway :D

Well the way you said it was still mean. Especially the "look like they're dying all the time" part

I just don't like the amount of hate hairless cats get

Personally I think that the idea of nudity being associated with sex regardless of circumstances is, quite frankly, stupid. Like, this is my body, what the heck is so intrinsically sexy about it? We're essentially taught that our bodies are something we should be ashamed of. It's ridiculous.

Difficult this. If nudity was the norm chances are that more people would be indifferent. Personally, having IHH, there are certain very obvious reasons why I won't go nude anywhere, (just say that folks would need a magnifying glass to see certain "parts"), falling within the clinical definition of intersex carries certain physical characteristics that to this day I don't want to display

Well, we come into this world naked, so it's our natural state. I've never seen anything wrong or intrinsically sexual about it.

My opinion is that it's not normal,  I hate seeing naked bodies and find nothing attractive about it.

I'm extremely repulsed by everything sexual and with nudityeven if it's  not tied to whatever sexiness is, we may have come into this world nothing but our skin, but I'll never want to be naked or see anyone naked, it's why I'll never get into a relationship and never marry anyone.

I hate how I look naked.

I feel it shouldn't be taboo, even though I don't want to see anyone naked. Have you ever been to a public bath? Ew. Just, why do I want to look at all those naked people? The baths themselves aren't bad, but the changing rooms! Just... so many naked women. I prefer the aesthetic appeal of clothed bodies, thank you, though if you want to run around naked, that's your imperitive.

i can't think of any part of the world where total nudity is the norm. 🤔 Personally I think there's enough ugliness in the world without having to see everyone's nether lands, uh, regions. :P

It’s not like i want to be naked myself. I would never dream of be naked myself. And it’s definitely not like i want to be in the public changing rooms, cause i hate it. What i meant was that i just love paintings sculptures where they’re naturally naked without doing sexual acts. In artworks it’s more attractive to me not in real life.

It’s not like i wanna be naked out in the public. Cause i would never dream of going out in the public naked, it makes me very uncomfortable and it’s totally embarrassing. And i definitely hate being in the public changing rooms. What i meant was that i just admire the nudity of men and women in artworks and sculptures. It’s not like i absolutely love naked people, cause i don’t(in real life). I just with other words think that nudity is not wrong or sinful.

PS: I think nude cats are cute. And please keep your clothes on.

Because of my name? Yes I'm Finnish. That's such a random and totally irrelevant thing to point out though XD

Artistically, nudity is fine.

I'm not personally adverse to tasteful nakedness. Generally I find it hilarious (or is that nervous laughter?) when I see someone in their birthday suit. Plus I accept that in day-to-day life, most people are or have to be even momentarily naked.

I have body issues for sure, as most people likely do - I'd sooner implode into dust rather than be seen without clothes. And if the boundaries of the previously mentioned 'tastefulness' were threatened or breached by those others being naked, I'd likely run for the hills (and then implode).

TLDR: Nudity = okay. My nudity = not okay. Sexual nudity = whole lot of flailing nope and implosions.

A lot of people saying nudity makes them uncomfortable / embarrassed / disgusted, and I think that's the whole point.  We feel that way because we've been raised by society to feel that way, because of the taboo.  In hunter/gatherer societies in warm climates people often walk around naked or near naked, and they don't show a stitch of disgust or embarrassment.  If we had been raised surrounded by nudity, we would probably feel the same.  Our aesthetic has been shaped by our culture.

It’s different in Europe. Of course we have been raised to keep our clothes on and not going naked around(cause it would be very uncomfortable and embarrassing). But they see nakedness as something natural and something that has to be shown without censorship. Because that’s the European and Scandinavian culture(where i live sex and nakedness is part of their society... Which is the reason why i fear to tell other people than my family and friends that i am aro/ace). In my opinion i do find nakedness natural in artworks(like paintings, sculptures and photographs). But when it comes to the real life, watching others naked is kind of awkward. It’s not because i think nakedness are disgusting or wrong but 1 when i am in the public changing rooms i just get uncomfortable being around women. I absolutely hate changing rooms. And 2 nakedness(whether it’s a male or female) is just not something i wanna have any contact with. I also hate porn and perverted talks and i get uncomfortable when there’s sex scenes in movies. That’s why i’m happy and proud to be virgin. To not care about the society and let myself  be who i am without following the norms of getting married and have sex. Cause there are way more things to do as virgins than a married couple.
