Is B "bed", E "ed", P "ped" etc?

No?

Well, don't see why Z is "zed" then.

Wait, what do you mean? In Canada we say 'bed', 'ed' and 'ped'...

@Mackenzie Holiday Actually it's pronounced "Zeh," I don't know why.

Looks like it's meant to rhyme with "free". :)

I was thinking it'd sound like "meh" when I typed that. :P But yeah, personally I pronounce it like "zee" and I'm not sure I've met anyone who pronounces it differently. Then again, I've never traveled outside of the U.S. so that's probably why.

Also keep in mind that in America the letters W and Z can both be pronounced as “Waffles”

I've heard they're actually changing the NATO phonetic alphabet to have both W and Z pronounced this way.

I think the Belgians had a hand in that.

I could make a really really bad joke about colonial atrocities right now.

It does make sense to change the pronunciation of letters to the name of breakfast foods

Could you make the joke to include pancakes or waffles in them?

Hmmmmmmm, no, I wouldn't want to ruin pancakes or waffles that way. By "bad joke" I don't mean "corny and unfunny" as much as I mean "highlighting the worst part of humanity". Pancakes and waffles are too good for that.

I understand. I should have never tried to interject world history into the sugary fluffy world of pancakes or into the slightly crispier world of waffles

I'll certainly treasure them in the present, though.

Honestly they're pretty intertwined already. It's like in the Assassin's Creed games: on the one hand you have the shadowy forces of freedom and individuality (pancakes) and on the other hand the shadowy forces of unity and conformity (waffles). The entire history of civilization has effectively been a game of cat and mouse between these two breakfast foods and the people who love them.

It does bring human history into sharp focus when viewed through the lens of breakfast foods...
