First Star Wars Canonically Ace Character!

Recommended Posts

Galactic Turtle

Hello humans! :)

Star Wars fan reporting in for World Watch!

The Star Wars canon timeline is no stranger to characters of all species, races, genders, and sexualities but apparently this past week marks the first appearance of a canonically ace character as backed up by the author - Delilah S. Dawson.

The book is called Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire which serves as a sort of sequel to the book Phasma where the protagonist was introduced. Because we're in the season of a new Star Wars novel coming out literally every 2-4 weeks, I'm a little bit behind and haven't gotten to this particular book yet but I did hear this through the grapevine so figured i'd share!

Cool, though there are a few characters that I can think of (canon and legends) that I would call asexual. Still cool that one was officially labeled as such.

Nice to have actual representation! Maybe I'll read the book (never read much of the Extended Universe before Disney made it non-canon, but now I don't want to read most of Disney out of spite).

Wait, I though R2-D2 was our Star Wars ace mascot?

Does it say she is asexual in the book? Or is it implied?

I will say there's a lot of great stuff in canon! They even borrow things from Legends. My favorites are Bloodline, Thrawn, and Dooku: Jedi Lost though the fan favorite is Lost Stars.

Really? XD I mean I guess R2 would be asexual considering it's a droid.

They don't say the word "asexual" in the book because it's Star Wars but the author did confirm that she is asexual and in the book she says she has never been attracted to men or women.
