What is a Straight Asexual?

I'm confused with this term. Is it a shorter term for heteromantic asexual? Is asexuality straight unless there's non-heteromantic leanings? Is an aromantic asexual a straight asexual? Or is does it have nothing to do with romantic orientation, and more with aesthetic/sensual appeal?

 

I thought straight meant someone who's heteronormative; i.e. heterosexual, heteromantic, and hetero-everything.

You’re thinking too hard about it. A heteromantic asexual is a straight ace. A homoromantic asexual is a gay ace. An aromantic asexual is an aro ace. A biromantic asexual is a bi ace

Someone who is super into sex characteristic of opposite gender, but does not want them for sex?

I'm not really sure how much sense it has, kind of as if someone collected vibrators just to look at them, but to each their own 😺

I was a little thrown off myself. Obvi asexual is asexual. But it would seem that the romantic orientation, (or aesthetic or sensual) has taken an important role for most aces.

 

Hetero = straight.

Homo = gay

Bi = bi (lol)

Pan = pan

Aro = aromantic

etc.

 

Personally I think asexual is descriptive enough. But I put biromantic even because I was just following along. I’d wager it is important mostly for those who are looking for a possible relationship.

To me "straight" just means you look to the opposite sex for relationship partners, regardless of what kind of relationship it is.
