There's someone in my area who wears a uniform too, a late DS9-Voyager uniform. I really want a pattern for a TNG jumpsuit, so that I can pick the materials.

That's the style I have -- the kind they wore on Voyager. With red shoulders.

for anyone who wants to see what it looks like.

He must have been wearing a movie uniform, since his shirt was black with gray shoulders, only his turtleneck was colored.

That would be Late DS9 and the last few movies. Mine is Voyager and Early DS9.

(Man, but am I ever branding myself as a total geek here...)

Why is it that a sports fan can walk around wearing their favourite team's jersey and not get a seciond look, but slip on any clothing relating to SF (esp. Star Trek for some reason) and you may as well be wearing a sign saying "Nerd"?

Even in social situations I tend to "drift off into my own world". I like having others around regularly, but not always.

There are three basic levels to my personality. The first is the grim, frowning person others tend to avoid. This is my surface, and the most visible aspect of my personality.

The second level is reminiscent of an animated, humorous imp. I like to make other people smile, and laugh, even if it’s at my own expense. This is a deeper level to my personality which I need to feel comfortable to express.

The third and deepest level is one I've never shared. I know very little about it as I have never felt comfortable enough to express it.

Someone help, I have no idea which option to vote for.

Like virginangelic, I like to socialise, but I like being on my own too.

In many social circumstances I'm quite happy seeing other people enjoy themselves with out necessarily feeling the need to participate.

I don't think I know of a single "people person" that isn't incredibly insecure, deceptive, or overmedicated. Or all of the above.

I can totally relate to 90 to 95% of everything in this thread. When I go out on the weekends to the clubs or something. I usually set off by myself in a corner somewhere with a beer until I get a buzz going and then I go home. In most cases men will come up to and start talking to me. Mostly gay or bisexuals trying to have sex with me, I politely turn them down. I would like women to come up and talk to me. But women just don’t do that so it’s up to you to go up and talk to them. But being the super shy guy that I am that’s very difficult for me. In most cases I like going to clubs that are full of people dancing. I think I enjoy that the most. :)

Oh yeah I’m something between a loner and an individualist. Most of the time I like being a lone but on the weekends I like going out and doing something and being with other people.

I'm a loner... I really want to be around other people, but none of them want to be around me. This has caused many  in the past. I am slowly creeping towards the 'few close friends' now... I have at least one, maybe two or three that I'm not sure of yet...

I wasn't disputing your comment; I was expressing pity.

I know many, as a matter of fact, not the least of which is my own sister.

And she truly, wholly loves people? Amazing.

You don't have an option in the poll that 'doesn't enjoy being around people but likes close friends they pick out of the herd'. That's about where I'd fall, most people bore me. In my view, if mad cow disease turns out to be a real problem, at least the general populous will get interesting. That is, before we all die... :?

But you can dislike people and prefer to be single without being overmedicated or deceptive, no ?

( sorry if I don't have understood what you mean, English is not my mother born language )

Vincent.

I'm an Individualist with regard to other humans, definitely. Provided I have a cup of tea and my cats with me, I am happy :D

I want friends, but many people tend not to want to be around me, or just don't notice I'm there. And I find it hard to socialize, even when I want to, because I don't know where to start.

I answered "I enjoy being around people, tend to hang out with few close friends."

It's...not 100% accurate? I go about most of my day by myself, but enjoy hanging out with friends when I get the chance. Sadly most don't live around here, so... individualist/small group, pretty much.

I find myself becoming depressed when I'm on my own for more than a day or two. I definitely need company, and although I'm shy and find it hard to meet new people, I love being around them. I would say I'm a gregarious person, so that's what I put my vote down for.

I prefer being alone. Or not completely alone, I like it when my cats are here too (although, they're just here, so I don't know if it counts). But completely alone is okay too. I don't know why I feel this way, I just do.

Wow, old thread is old.

Anyway, my choice was I enjoy being around people, and tend to only hang around my few close friends'.

I get anxious if I'm alone for too long.

There are really two sides to me. I do hang out with a few friends and generally have fun but I do like being on my own because I can be myself and be totally free.

Wow. This thread really IS old! *dusts off the cobwebs*

I like to hang out with a very small number of close friends - not more than 3 or 4 at a time. Crowds bother me, and dealing with strangers is somewhat stressful.

I can do it, and I don't MIND it, precisely, but it tires me out. It takes a lot of energy to wear my outgoing, "public" face.
