Violence

I know it’s built in the human nature to be violent to each other especially when we were less evolved. Now that we are more evolved per say why do we still do it. Especiallly with all the development of our own technology etc. it is interesting to me. We are animals .

We have evolved technologically and as beings, but our animalistic ways of being will always be part of us.

The territorial instincts, to the instincts we have that protect us. Just like animals. IE the momma bear instinct within us, many aren't even aware is there until its activated just like fight or flight mode.

Ironically you mention alcohol, but this often is the driving force behind exposing our most innermost animalistic instincts that some try to deny due to our level of evolution.

Yeah just was curious what other people thought. Ignore my alcohol consumption lol deeper thoughts here .

the mother trope of protecting her young is fanscnating . Where it stems from in our animalistic nature.  To protect future prodiginy.

Our society's and technology may have involved to be more complex, but somethings don't change. For a long time violence was part of our survival. Mistrust and aggression were tools we used to keep ourselves safe from other animals or people we didn't know.

I think a lot of those things are still around, even though we have opened up to be more accepting of others. Consciously we can decide not to react violently to each other because of race or whatever. The fear and mistrust thought I don't think really goes away, we just consciously ignore it because we know it is silly as it no longer serves it's old function.

The instincts of a mother is fascinating. Parenthood really changes people. There's many videos and articles of amazing feats a parent has done to protect their young. But then parenthood can reveal the worse in people and there are some who don't seem to have any instinctual desire to care for their child...

Just because society and technology change doesn’t mean biology will.

I blame our leaders and the cultures they create to maintain their authority. They are the ones who start wars, campaigns of genocide and create a lower class that finds violence is the easiest means of improving their situation. Hunter gatherers living in harsh climates tend to be very peaceful people.  This is because they all rely keenly on one another for survival. They welcome individuals from outside the group because this is seen as extra support.  Nobody owns anything and everybody helps each other. Leadership is based on experience which translates into being the most helpful individual. Civilized societies base leadership on wealth and coercion or a democratic system which is little more than a herd of brainwashed cattle. We need to come to terms with what being "civilized" really means. The emperor has no clothes - and he's really ugly too.

Mother love : nurturing young has a dark side. Our closest animal relative often eats theirs. If a female chimpanzee wanders into a new group she is welcomed by the males. However if she has an baby it is in grave danger of being killed and eaten. This ensures the males only sire their own young. Gorillas also kill offspring if they drive a mature male from his group. Curiously, humans are much more like baboons. Both of us will immediately rush to the aid of an infant in distress. Baboons have capitalized on this. A subordinate male can harass a dominant one if he is holding an infant. I think the difference is because like baboons, humans live in enormous groups and nobody knows everybody. Chimps live in smaller groups and they all know one another intimately. If violence occurs they all know what caused it and if they didn't they aren't at risk of being attacked. In a group of strangers, a sudden act of violence is extremely disturbing because hardly anyone knows what caused it and this means anybody could be the next target.

There is no such thing as "less evolved" or "more evolved".

There are no "levels" of evolution.

Furthermore, in evolutionary theory inherited traits are neither good nor bad. They are either advantageous or non-advantageous.

How are abstract things like "violence" inherited anyway? We inherit concrete things like teeth and the ability to learn written language.

If we are talking about being predisposed to violence that is activated by environmental triggers, that is a different matter.

Our ability to act violently, unfortunately, is like our abilities to reason, use language, empathize, etc.: it can be used to manipulate, control, exploit, etc.

But non-violence can be a powerful tool as well. See Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., etc.

Violence is something we have to learn to control. American football is now threatened by evidence that it destroys players' brains. But an argument could be made that it has provided an outlet for violence that might have otherwise found worse outlets.

Violence may not always be the result of irrational thought.

When people or groups of people both need the same resources, or disagree on fundamental issues of right and wrong, sometimes there is no other option.

We hope that is rarely the case, but its difficult to always avoid.

We have evolved as humans. You can observe each century, and notice our evolution as beings.

Some feel that due to this, that our animal like instincts should somehow not exist.

Quickest way to see this nature, is alcohol.
