Hairstyles!?!?

So I've recently started to identify as female genderflux, somedays I feel really feminine and love my long hair and lots of different styles, but other days I feel really disconnected from being female and feel the sudden and desperate desire to cut my hair really short and choppy and be super androgynous and my hair usually makes me quite distressed and frustrated during these times. Anyone have any hairstyles that will work for both feminine and weird IDK agender/genderless days?

Any help possible would be appreciated, even similar stories/situations!

Thanks! 😁

One that comes to mind is having the sides of your head shaved short and and long hair swept to one side, other than that I'm not sure, id be interested to hear answers myself honestly. My hair is a mess :D

I've actually considered shaving my hair completely short and vouching for wigs instead, though i haven't really thought that one through much, just an idea

Hi @ScarletPrincess2004! I've had a very similar experience to yours actually. Last year, when I was still very confused about my gender, I got a very intense feeling of dysphoria when I was at school one day. So I got a hairtie and put my hair in a high ponytail, and that helped me a bunch for some reason. I had (and still have) a kind of bob though (see https://images.app.goo.gl/tUr3ob2DJhN5FWEh6) so my hair was quite short.

Now I know that I'm agender and (butchy) sapphic, so I'm sticking with the bob and my flannels. I have been wanting to try a shorter haircut though, (like this: https://images.app.goo.gl/GjQ3Qge8Pn9eehfN9) but I'll have to let my bangs grow out a bit first.

Now, as for hairstyle suggestions.

1) Beanies are your friend! I don't know how cold/warm it is where you live, but having a beanie has helped me a bunch. You can tuck your hair in the beanie during more agender days and let it flow during more feminine days. Not a hairstyle, but still a suggestion nonetheless!

2) Might be a bit too much, but have you considered a double side shave/ deathhawk?

Hope I've helped!

I think the best haircut for this is sort of something that goes to about the nape of your neck or shoulder length but layered. It's still long enough for a girl that you can style it in very feminine ways especially for 1920s -1960s inspired looks but you can also wear it messy and just look like a guy with long hair. So I'd say it's pretty neutral.

I had that kind of length a few years ago (my hair is curly and I didn't do much to it so it looked pretty messy most of the time) and I was seen as female about as often as I was seen as male by strangers. One time someone literally told me they couldn't tell what I was. When I cut my hair shorter I passed as male 99%, so for me at least that medium style of haircut was very androgynous.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I will definitely try some of them out! I think I will cut my hair shorter in a while, after I have my year 10 formal, for that I want to wear a 1950s style hairdo, so probably requires long hair, but I'm looking forward to experimenting more after that!!!

Thanks again to everyone!

There's great 1950's hairstyles for relatively short hair (which I think look awesome and beautiful)! Good luck.

Oh my gosh! I've just searched some up and you're right! There are some absolutely gorgeous styles for short hair! Maybe I won't have to wait before cutting it! Thanks!
