This is one of the best anti-conservative campaigns I've seen. Votey McVoteface getting boaters with no fixed address to register and vote in marginal areas, including where Boris is the candidate.

That's outrageous. I wouldn't want to work for a tw*tter like that! That's illegal as well in more than one way, I'm sure. Tell them to keep a screenshot of the email in case anything happens.

Well, it's unfair dismissal if they have 2 years' service. IIRC political opinion isn't protected from discrimination generally speaking but I haven't looked at it for a while.

I don't actually know if it's illegal - as Blaidd says political affiliation isn't a protected characteristic in the UK unlike religion say - but it's deeply unprofessional at the very least.

Only 1hr 15 min to go till the exit poll!

*is deeply hoping that either the opinion polls thus far are really misleading, or the apparent swing towards Labour in the last few days is large enough to make a hung parliament*

Here are the exit polls of all UK elections since 1992.

Next chapter to be written within the hour!

In the meantime, if anyone hasn't voted, it's still not too late! You have 47min...

I think hung parliament with conservatives in the lead but I hope I'm wrong. I think if the conservatives are in the lead with a hung parliament they'll be hard pressed to find another party to top up the number. DUP and SNP wouldn't touch them, lib dems, green and plaid probably not either due to their totally different stances on Brexit. The only way I could see them getting one of them on board is to agree to another referendum which Boris doesn't want. And for SNP to promise another independence vote. Brexit party may get enough to boost them up but I hope people were sensible enough not to vote for a party with one tiny portion of UK politics in mind (but judging my the MEP elections I couldn't be so sure).

The Brexit party won't get any seats, I'm fairly sure. I think the DUP would make a coalition with the conservatives again (it's the only way they're getting any influence at all), but I don't think the conservatives would particularly want to, given the DUP will vote against their Brexit deal. At this point I'd be happy with "not a conservative majority" even if the conservatives are the largest party. At least the other parties could block vote against them.

1 min till the exit poll! (edit: 2 min)

It's funny how much coverage there is of the supposed race between Newcastle and Sunderland on the first to declare. It's the one thing I'm *really* not bothered by....

It isn't from that perspective but it would be unfair dismissal and arguably bullying as well.

OK now it really is just 1min. :) I think for the first time we won't have Big Ben chime at 10pm on exit poll.

stunning victory indeed. I'm thinking of moving to Scotland, if not abroad, if this is the result. I hope it's completely wrong.

I hope so too, but at this point it's basically hoping for a miracle. The exit polls aren't spot on, but they're generally not this badly wrong.

When Newcastle or Sunderland or whoever are the first to declare in the next hr or so, we'll have a big clue then as to how accurate the exit poll is. I fear the worst though...

Two silver linings IMO, if you can call them that: the DUP are out and the Brexit party won't win any seats if the poll is right.

At least you can vote him out next year (hopefully), assuming the Senate doesn't convict him. We now have another 5 years of this....

Though probably the tory spinners will go work for the republicans next year.

All the Northern Irish seats listed under other in the exit poll summary despite 2 parties at least getting more than 3 listed in the summary

Fascinating. In general it appears that the Conservatives have out-performed the exit poll. Maybe because people don't like admitting that they voted for them?

I doubt Boris will last 5 years. He's bound to do something so heinous that he'll get kicked out or have to resign. And maybe, just maybe, he wont win his seat?

I think the best shot is not winning his seat

He has spent his career saying and doing stupid things and yet that hasn't stopped him

I'm betting that he thinks the brexit chaos will continue to help him. The worse of a mess the conservatives make, the more people run to them for the solution. Brexit will give him a massive recession and frightened people believing propaganda in The Sun.

Our President will be impeached by the end of today by the House.  The Senate will wait until after the holidays to put him on trial, which will end soon with him trumpeting/tweeting "I've been thoroughly vindicated!"   Then we'll have to suffer through another 12 months of him completing his wreck of the country.  It sounds like you have an out if Boris doesn't win his seat -- ?   What a situation: I'd bet no one would have believed 5 years ago that both countries could have such dolts in power.

Yup. The whole thing was completely predictable before it started. I hope it doesn't backfire for the dems.

It's a nice idea but has vanishing small probability. The party leaders always stand in safe seats. The only time a major party's leader can lose their seat is if either they selected the seat to run in incompetently (which never really happens), or the leader has a personal scandal that loses them their base, or the party as a whole has a disastrous election. It's not gonna happen. :(

I think that's a large part of it. Same with the Brexit referendum and of course the Trump election, where the opinion polls underestimate the Brexit/Trump vote.

It wasn't just Brexit. The media has run a hate campaign against Corbyn, and people are scared of socialism.
