Pramana
I've compiled a few articles from The Atlantic reporting on political science research into the rise of alternative right populism and support for Donald Trump. This reporting suggests an emerging consensus around the importance of emotional factors, namely white male working class voters who feel alienated by: 1. Demographic changes caused by immigration, and accompanying sense that historic American culture is being lost. 2. Cultural shift away from traditional masculinity with move towards feminism and racial/gender/sexual minorities. 3. Universities that are perceived as beholden to special interest groups and as pushing unremunerative degrees which fail to justify high student debt.https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/04/existential-anxiety-not-poverty-motivates-trump-support/558674/https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/05/white-working-class-trump-cultural-anxiety/525771/https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/10/male-trump-voters-masculinity/503741/

The Dryad
I'm happy you posted this, even though it shows exactly how intolerant America still is, I think some people are indenial about why Trump threatens our current society and why he represents... devolution essentially. I've read that Trump supporters want to return to "the Golden age" when shows like Leave it to Beaver systematically took women's independence from them (from wartime employment), and Jim Crow ruled the North and KKK ruled the South....good times.
