Hello, AVEN

Hello all. I've spent the past few months stalking AVEN as a guest and reading asexual blogs, and I figure a logical next step is to create an account here.

My journey with asexuality is somewhat different from that of which one normally hears. It took me quite a while to come to realize that I'm asexual even after being introduced to the term, since I have a sex drive, and experience sensual attraction. I've ultimately come to realize, though, that I've never felt sexual attraction to anyone, and I wouldn't mind at all never bothering with sex. I've also come to be aware that other people place a lot of value on sex, whereas it has effectively no significance to me. All of this has caused me to start identifying as asexual.

I also think I experience romantic attraction differently from others, though I'm still waist-deep figuring out exactly how I do experience it, so I just say I'm biromantic for now.

I think that's all I had planned to write. I'm pleased to meet all of you.

And have some biromantic cake:

You sound a little like me. I knew about asexuality a few years before I "figured out" I'm ace. I used to think having a sex drive was the same as sexual attraction.

Welcome! Sexual desire and sexual attraction are quite often misconstrued as the same thing, it’s an easy mistake to make. If you need any help figuring things out just ask :)
