Exploring Sexuality in the Asexuality Spectrum

Recommended Posts

It's become pretty obvious to me over the years that I'm somewhere in the middle of the asexuality spectrum. Graysexual, demisexual, what have you. I'm not too attached to putting an exact label, I just know it's somewhere in that middle zone where romantic and sexual attraction is very rare/limited. But it wasn't until very recently that I realized that this is part of the reason why I have a hard time knowing if I'm attracted to women and men or not. But recently I've been noticing a very brief spike in sensation in my "naughty-bits" area when I see curvy women, say on instagram or something. It feels nice and exciting and even a bit surprising but it literally only lasts for a second if not half a second. Anyone here in the gray area have this sensation? And do you think it's a sign of sexual attraction or... something else?
I've seen talk about a tingly feeling before here but those sound lingering? Is a quick sensation a common sign of it too?

*EDIT* Just realized this might be better for the graysexual forum. My bad!

I'm asexual, not grey-a, but I totally understand this feeling that you're talking about. I've gotten it sometimes: For me it's just this really quick feeling of arousal that occasionally happens when I see a cute guy. It last for maybe a second, and then it's gone. I've realized that this is not attraction, it's just plain arousal (I guess our bodies are just proving to us that the pipes still work lol). but since you are gray-a, I think maybe the arousal could potentially lead to attraction.

Ah arousal might be a better word for it! Because I don't think I want these people, it's just like: oh woah that was a thing. Haven't really experienced this too commonly irl because I just don't notice people often. Glad you knew what I was talking about!

I fully have a mental revulsion/ fear of ever being fully sexual with someone. HOWEVER I adore "extreme "cuddling and sometimes i feel that arousal spike as well but it's never towards someone, it's simply me enjoying the feeling of said action. I am labelling myself asexual because no other word on the scale would fit me, I can be ace and still enjoy the person i care about.

I'm 41 and autistic. I've recently begun to experience this, too.

Hi, I'm middle-aged and autistic too! Have some cake! :cake:

To all those who can occasionally get that moment of sensation in the naughty bits; have you tried watching porn?
