You could get him cake and balloons with 50 on them, since it's a big milestone bday after all. And yes I agree with above comments, he might like to go out somewhere fun based on an interest of his - be it bowling or another group activity, going to his favorite restaurant or something else he would enjoy. The best presents are experiences, not things, right?
