Will my libido ever go away?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if my libido will ever go away. I ID as Gray-Ace/heteroromantic aseuxal (somewhere in between those two, I think), but I have gone though periods of doubt and such, which I think may be caused by my libido. I do masturbate frequently, and sometimes use images when I do. However, I never really imaging myself in sexual situations with the people in it, and just focus on whatever they're doing there (and I NEVER think about people that I personally know when I do it). Because of me doing this, I have doubted myself in the past, and I would like to just not have a libido as I think it would help me be a bit more confident in labeling myself. I'm still going through puberty, so will this libido start to die down later or go away completely as I age? (And also, just to shoehorn a question in here, what do allosexual people think about and what feelings do they get when masturbating while look at that sort of stuff?)

I'm 21 and have a pretty low libido, but it's still there. I go through stages where I masturbate everyday and where I don't for weeks. (I've watched porn before too and read adult fiction. Whatever floats your boat. I don't think it changes anything.) Some people--asexual and sexual--have higher libido's than others. It's a part of being human. It might change as you get older, but only time will give you a clear answer. Something that I have to remind myself of sometimes is that having a libido, masturbating, having sex, and desiring to have sex are all very different things, and I would define asexuality as the absence of the last one (the desire to have sex).

The libido tends to wax and wane throughout adult life, most would see a gradual decrease with advancing age.  It may not go away until much older for which maybe a blessing or a curse, dependent on whom you ask.

Mine was at it's highest at the teen years, and gradually decreased or changed variably through the 15 years having the libido with changes in the sex hormones, I also wax and wane, having days with masturbating once or twice, to whole weeks without anything at all, currently 30 and expect further decreases over the next 10 years.
