AFABulous Boy
I have my first session of transgender group therapy on March 7th. What is it like? Have any of you been to group therapy? Is it like other group therapies, where you talk about yourself and stuff?
butterflydreams
I go to a support group. It's not group therapy per se, there's no one really leading it, for example. You can choose to talk as much or as little as you want. Sometimes people don't say anything. I usually like to bring something positive up that happened to me. I mostly do it just to get to know others in the community. For that it's been pretty successful.
Guest
I go there to find relief, It's not therapy either for me, but support group. To exchange and relate. Because as a transgender, you undoubtedly have had some real shit in your life that you struggled with. And then to find people whom instantly recognize and are able to relate, that you don't need to explain further, but they just can fill in the rest of what happened instantly... It makes you feel less crazy and valid. And also, everyone is loving cats
