And the world makes sense!

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all as well as can be.

I just joined the site this week after a few days of extensive research and much confusion/enlightenment.

Finally the world makes sense!

I have taken a trip trip down memory lane and can now understand all that has happened in my life that previously bewildered me. I can’t believe the answer was right here all along.

I still havent totally worked worked it out but boy do I feel good!

Did anyone else have a eureka moment?

Hey CCMM

Welcome to AVEN! I hope you like it around here (:

I felt exactly the same when I discovered the definition of asexuality, it was like finding the missing piece of the puzzle.

At first I denied my asexuality, I thought how does a person NOT found other people sexually attractive? Isn't it natural to develop those emotions??? And then as I aged through my late teenage years, I discovered it exactly applied to me. Much like you, I did a lot of extensive research to double, triple, quadruple check my asexual standings and when I finally came to accept it, it was like a heavy unknown weight was lifted off my shoulders. Not only did the world make sense to me, by I made sense to myself.

It's such a captivating feeling when these epiphanies occur!

Below is the description that changed my entire outlook...

Welcome @CCMM, have some cakes :cake::cake:

Wow, I can relate this! (almost 100%!)

Indeed, all vague uncomfortableness since childfood can be explained by Ace and it was truly 'eureka!'

But I was depressed for several weeks as I realised that this world is so hypersexualised, and I didn't know that for more than a decade...

Anyway, enjoy!

Hello there, and welcome to AVEN! :cake:

As part of my welcome to you, I'd like to point out some important threads that might be helpful in your first few days here. :) The Terms of Service is here. We recommend you read it over, and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to send either myself or any other administrator or moderator (the "admod" team, as we're called) a message.  Also, there's a handy forum called Site Info, which has some useful information including a thread outlining who moderates which forum. If you ever need something done in or have questions about a specific forum, please message the mod of that forum. And if you have problems with the site in general, or any single member, please message any admod.

The following are also nifty links to take a look at:  Welcome Lounge Mini Manual | Welcoming 101 | Quick Guide to the Forums | Asexuality FAQ's

Again, welcome to AVEN and I hope your stay is everything you hoped!

Hello and welcome to AVEN! I'm glad you found us, and that you decided to join. I definitely had a sudden moment of realization and understanding when I first heard about asexuality. Honestly, if you had looked into my mind right then it would have looked like a scene from a movie done in various short flashbacks. :D

Yes! I did have such an eureka moment.

It was a relief because before I'd always assumed I was either a lesbian or at least a bisexual - which was odd, as I cringe at the thought of sex with men and women.

Growing up, my friends were always talking about their prince or princesses of their dreams and I was just sat there like "uh".

A bigger relief is that I can finally join this site... oddly it has been blocked in my country. Stupid "positive internet" values and all that.

Hi from a newbie! :)

This is exactly how it was for me! I feel like a whole new me.

And thanks for sharing that excerpt, food for thought!

Yes absolutely, I feel almost at peace with the past?

Sorry to hear that you struggled with depression, I totally understand that feeling of having to come to terms with what feels like missed opportunity! I hope you are doing better now.

YES! Definitely the same for me. And still going on, I’ve been reevaluating and I supposed am now able to accept so many occurrences! What a rollercoaster.

Omg yes! So many times being lost for what to say during discussions about celebrity crushes!

I had a peek on your page to see where you were from, how exciting to chat to someone so far away. It must be so frustrating to be restricted online, I’m glad you managed to join!

Welcome! Sorry if I'm a bit late :P

Spoiler

I was actually researching the LGBT+ community for a friend (bi + ftm) and came across the term. It really just hit home immediately like "Oh wait that's me!". Unfortunately it turns out that not everyone in the LGBT+ community is open minded, so I figured it's best if I didn't tell him and we ended up going to different schools anyway. But now I have really open-minded friends, so I'm good. :)

I brought cake though, so we're good, right?

Thanks @CCMM, the cause of depression was something like... I'm came from different planet ( planet Ace, if you like) and more than 90% of people in this planet are doing something quite gross...but yeah, I'm fine as I've learnt a lot from Aven.

Hope you have a lot of new discoveries and gain more confidence, just as I do :)
