I seriously hate this holiday. I always got pressure to date and if I didn’t I was a weirdo. Ugh but I love the discount candy 😋

Discount candy rocks! :)

Another V-day come and gone, and nothing has changed really. No romantic/sexual interests, definitely no one asking me out, and I’m still hungry for chocolate 🍫. I’m more envious of people receiving boxes of chocolates than anything else. A date? Screw that. A box of chocolate? Man, that’s so unfair 😤. Gimme my sugar! 🍫😋🍫

I like Valentine's Day. Not the pressure or commercialism, but the romantic appreciation. In fact, this Valentine's Day is the best one I've ever had, thanks to having a girlfriend.

Tomorrow is going to be great; just think of all that stuff about to go on sale... I'd say that February 15th is usually an awesome day. :)

I definitely enjoyed the excuse to get my boyfriend a little gift...I don't know, I can't be the only one who doesn't mind the commercialization too much! It's nice to have a day where you can just spoil the people around you and show them how much they mean to you. Nothing wrong with taking a little time to get a few chocolates and a nice card for the people who truly matter to you...I only do it for my mom, boyfriend and best friend. But it makes me happy to be able to get them a little gift. I don't think it's such a horrible thing!

The only thing I really don't like is how society pushes it on you so hard that being single on Valentine's day can make you feel like a failure.

Best to just ignore that and just concentrate on all the relationships in your life, not just Romantic ones.

An exchange of cards with the BF, never done or wanted to do that before, a simple card with a few feelings summered since we where together, the spiritual and some romantic feelings mostly along with a movie date we always do every few weeks or so.  Not a big fan of what v-days sickly sweet and cliche themes.

Someone stopped me on my university campus once asking me if I wanted a date, and I was all "Uhm, no, thanks," and he held out the fruit and he was like "No - a date." I'm convinced it's on youtube somewhere. It was hilarious. :lol:

Oh btw is you name form a chirma ? I learnt about them today and it’s cool that the make mice in labs that have two blood types/ sexes . There was even an instance when the mixed human fatty tissue in mice and made a human/ mouse chirima

The owner of one of the dogs I walk left me a nice valentine card and a Starbucks gift card, was kinda nice and unexpected.  I always surprise people when I tell them valentine's day is my favorite holiday, but to me it's about crafting and junk food and I love those things?  I was too busy with work this year to make valentines or snacks though like I usually do though.

I sent my BFF in England flowers... we exchanged our traditional valentines day care packages (mostly just junk food from our respective countries) but we both sent them too late so... I guess my Cadbury's are still en route.

I'm moving to a new apartment next month and on Valentine's day I went to see the place for the first time!

IT WAS AMAZING, it made my day and I can't wait to move in! :D You are all invited to my house warming party (bring cake)

Also a colleague of mine got engaged that day and she's been spamming social media with the photos of her diamond ring since then... And uhhh I can feel jealousy rearing it's ugly head again.

I got one of those bad Valentine's cards you can print out from my friend, saying "What's a Valentine?" with a picture of castiel from Supernatural

I love Valentine's Day because my mother always surprises me with a gift card to my favorite online store.  I remember the days in school when I was forced to give out Valentine's cards to kids in my elementary school classes.  Hated that..but I always liked picking out what cards to give...they usually had Popples or TMNT characters on them.  I wanted to keep them for myself. lol

My parents wished me "happy valentines day". Like it means anything to me but I guess since I have a boyfriend it probably should. Though its not that easy when your boyfriend is very far from you.

I’m guessing everyone hates Christmas too 🤦‍♂️

hate valentines, always have. I love Christmas so much I start listening to Christmas music in October, have decorations up by mid November and start saying Merry Christmas instead of goodbye on Dec 1st.

293 days to Christmas

The only thing I hate about Christmas is how the media starts to go crazy with the music on Halloween, even though the day hasn't finished yet - which is unfair, because Halloween is awesome (costumes and discount candy :D). There's one radio station that does this and it's so annoying! Two months of Mariah Carey and co. singing festive ballads... It's usually an awesome station, but at that time of the year I'm forced to ignore it.

Valentine's day was, in hindsight, kind of terrible.

First I was stressed that my boyfriend got me something excessive because he was telling me how excited he was about it. Turns out he got me this really nice swarovski necklace that's two hearts. It was a really sweet gesture and I could tell he was so happy to give it to me that I just kind of pretended I was into it (I just don't really wear jewelry- at all. It just gets in the way in my opinion). I made him some cookies with hearts on them. It all just made it more difficult for me to get out of that situation. When he does something sweet it's hard for me to deal with the fact that I'm not sexually attracted to him and honestly I'm not really romantically attracted to him either.

Now that I've reevaluated my sexuality and really thought about our relationship I realized a few things.

1. A guy could be the nicest, sweetest, most romantic guy but you still might not have chemistry.

2. You shouldn't feel obligated to stay in a relationship just because of how sweet he is to you.

3. You shouldn't convince yourself you'll "like him eventually".

4. It's a bad sign if you don't really want to see him or avoid seeing him sometimes.

5. I want to really love someone, not just be with someone who loves me.

That's because national coming out day isn't disgustingly commercialized (yet).

Valentine's Day is a nice idea, but people ruined it.

My math teacher complained that she was going to have to put up with girls going "ugh, she has the bigger teddy bear than me". And on Valentine's Day, I saw two girls with giant teddy bears.

And what about Thanksgiving?

What about Thanksgiving? It's already a given that, as soon as evening hits that day, the Christmas ads and massive sales (and music) will start up and begin pestering everyone about a holiday that's still a month away. If you were asking if I liked Thanksgiving: it's mostly either a quiet meal with few people, or a huge and awkward affair with a bunch of relatives I barely know. Out of that and Halloween the latter wins hands down. I really wish there was more stuff to do in costume than going to bars and contests; you get weird looks if you go door-to-door as an adult. Answering the door for the sparse few kids that come to my house is always fun, since they seem so happy (and I have an excuse to wear a costume).

You see, my problem with Valentines is that you shouldn’t need a day of the year just to treat someone you love or to just tell or show them you love them. Random acts of affection mean more to me than just ‘hey it’s a commercial holiday so I guess I brought you this thing’.

All holidays have their strange expectations if you think about it. Why does it take holidays like Christmas for many families to think to gather for a family meal - and why do some families with conflicts try when any other time of the year they wouldn’t, knowing it might not be the best idea? Why do some people only think to treat their parents on Mothers Day or Fathers Day?

There’s lots of holidays designed to make people act, whereas just showing those little bits of affection every now and then, being thoughtful and kind is - personally for me at least - nicer. Also, Valentines Day tends to pigeon hole people into ‘doing something with a partner’ and ‘alone on Valentine’s Day how sad’, and that’s just not cool. There are so many reasons people may be alone on Valentines Day - chosen or not.

I played Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Valentine's Day and a villager gave me a purple rose!

Me and my friend were also calling the day Friend's Day instead and it felt a lot more fun that way. :)
