Recommended Posts

Just wondering, even tho I'm ace, anyone who happens to be ace and speaks French? XD

just wondering lol XD because even tho I'm bilingual I speak English well but I miss speaking French and I worry that if I speak English more often I might lose my second language, so just wondering lol XD

Anyone who says French is "the language of love" knows nothing about French language and culture. French is the language of existential despair.

lol what do you mean lol XD I'm bilingual lol and I speak French lol XD I'm even French Canadian lol XD no offense but I hope you aren't against the French language lol XD just wondering.

Also, it takes practice to speak and even write the language. At one of my schools when I took a French class in my sophomore yr so I could continue speaking French so I wouldn't lose it, I heard a couple of students say that they hated French so I asked them how come and talked to a few of the students and told them it takes practice to write and speak French and it takes time to learn the language. They agreed a little and told me that that makes sense and I felt like I helped them understand the French language a little more. :D

I'm clearly better at reading than speaking as I can decipher many of the French written messages in this thread. Huzzah for me!

French canadian! Me too!

Even though french is my first language, I think that it’s a very hard language to learn because of all the grammar rules. Reading helps a lot for writing. For speaking, the best is really to practice.

That's the best I can do and that took me a while!

Isn't Canadien French not very different to erm... French - French?

You know you're from Quebec, when you know what "Tiggidou" means.

Or aren't lost when I say Watatatow, cave (in reference to intelligence level), or snoro.

I'm Haitian, and my parents learned France French. Montreal however, is my second home as I know tons of people there so it's sort of influenced my French. I was totally lost on Quebec slang as a kid, but quickly picked it up.

I felt I was starting to lose my French while traveling, so made a point to start reading French newspapers and literature, overall. I also tried to make sure to watch French movies, as well to try to keep the French sharp.

I'm lucky, as my sisters kids also speak French, so I get to practice it with them. As does my best friend's 4 year old daughter. She is trying to learn it, so I get to speak it with her, when I hang out with him.

I started learning French in high school, so I have bare minimum basics down. Spanish would be more beneficial to me based on where I live, but I'd rather learn French. It's also fun to try and figure out what is being said in French with the little I know.

It takes practice to learn French. A bunch of students in my French classes before I went to a boarding school, have said similar things and I've told them it takes practice to learn French you just have to keep practicing and they've told me that it makes sense. :D

Je me sens tellement accompli! J'ai appris cette langue moi-meme!
