Ohh I’m glad it’s not just me who has never wanted a kid. My friends all act shocked if I ever mention it, like it’s an integral part of adult life.

Also, I can never understand why friends stay in bad relationships that they even admit are unhealthy. Wouldn’t everyone be happier if y’all just broke up? There’s lots of other people who would be better to date out there...

People using the phrase "food porn".

Seriously, I personally hate that phrase. Why do we have to ruin yet another innocent thing with sex innuendos?

Maybe this has already been posted. When couples on tv/movies take off ALL of their clothes when making out or more.  I don't know why it bugs me. People look better with their clothes on and from what I understand, intercourse works even when most of your clothes are on. Haha.  Unless its to keep your clothes from getting sweaty.....

I've never understood the excitement over an exposed or naked body, male or female. Also undergarments like bras or underwear. Why is that so interesting?

Also - romantic scenes in movies and all romcoms. I've never liked any of those parts of movies. I always skip these scenes in any movies I watch. Call me a heretic or whatever for not watching the movie in its entirety but these scenes are generally obtrusive to the plot of the movie for me. I can skip these scenes over completely and not miss anything important in the movie.

Now I'm not against marriage or child birth - but I've never wanted it for me. And I don't understand how some people figure that as a necessity for women. I'm never getting married. I'm never having children (unless I adopt - an option for later in life). God bless all that do - but it won't be me.

The exact OPPOSITE of what some people in this thread are talking about is what's weird to me. And I'm pretty sure it's because I'm an asexual. I'm super comfortable with nudity. It doesn't make me feel anything or has any meaning, so the fact that the WHOLE WORLD gets SO UPSET about it... it's annoying. I see it as punitive on people for something that isn't their fault... having a fucking BODY.

I know some asexuals are repulsed and that's totally normal, too. It just seems that, for me personally, my lack of sexuality makes nudity totally normal.

I find everything around sex weird in general. Everything listed here.

Also find it weird how in movies the two leads always have to wind up together. It's like the story relies on them being together....even when it doesn't. I'd like to see a movie that isn't aimed at kids that actually focuses on a more realistic friendship between adults...rather then them instantly falling in love and having sex.

Man, I have felt the same way. Everyone seems to overall think "How can you not want kids?", and people just overall think that's weird. Sometimes I just say "I care about the humans who are here". Sometimes they understand.

That's exactly how I feel! I just want to support existing people, instead of having a desire to make new people. That gives me the happiness in life, not having biological children.

And I feel like some allos have nearly the opposite want; they just want to have biological children, regardless their circumstances and whether they're actually capable of/interested in bringing up a living person. They don't think things any further, they just want children like they want chocolate or alcohol etc. I've met some people like that 😕 Also, many people wanting to pair you up with anyone who has two legs and male genitalia feels the same. When you actually don't have a desire to have children, that whole thing seems like an addiction you were just supposed to have.

Yup, I think that some people simply are not able to bust of programming and inundated language that they were taught when they were young. Many just accept it as true without careful analysis, I hate to say. They think the norm is the only way, without there being variation to the matter. But hey, when you have playground nursery rhymes going "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage!"

Well, what should you expect?

Here's another thing I as an aroace find weird: how allo people describe sex and sexuality related stuff as "dirty/naughty/wrong/etc". It seems to even give "the kicks" to some allo people. I don't perceive sexuality that way, I just see it as a natural instinct or need such as eating or wanting to be a part of a group or something (and me just lacking that instinct). I've been wondering if this perception of "wrong" was brought by Christianity, or if it's something allo people naturally experience around the world?

Angry sex, or working out anger with sex. 1. How does that solve the problem? 2. Don't touch me, slimeball!

To be fair, I've never met anyone who liked dick picks except guys liking sending pics of their own dick. 😂

My theory is that a lot of allo cis men just can't wrap their heads around the concept that other people don't love their dicks as much as they do. They probably think she just drove into a tree and died while staring at their dick pics or something. 😆

These people aren't seriously trying to get a relationship (honestly, I think that if a woman seriously propositioned them for a relationship, the majority of these guys would run for the hills).  They do this solely to get a reaction, not unlike an internet troll.

why is homosexuality taboo? how is that ANY less weird than heterosex?

while we're on it,

oral sex. specifically when it involves something going into your mouth.

aids. i think its very interesting that people (like gay men at the height of the epidemic in the U.S.) kept having sex with each other when they knew that it could very well result in a nearly incurable illness?

Ok I'll try my best as a sexual (celibate) person

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

Innuendo isn't funny to everyone, but I will always be a puerile teenager and find things that accidentally reference sex to be hilarous

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

-cheating??

Nope, don't understand why people do that unless its a toxic relationship

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

-stereotypical 'hot' bodies

Physical beauty standards are dictated mostly by society and varies from person to person, I find conventional physical attractiveness quite easy to gauge for either gender though. You don't have to want sexy time with whatever gender to see that they are attractive

Don't kink shame!

Not really an ace thing, but this is one of the reasons I prefer being single after seeing so many broken relationships

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

Again this is aro, but limmerance is intoxicating and I guess romantic love is about giving yourself entirely to someone and a level of trust few are able to have with even their closest friends

Dicks look ridiculous, but I think they are great. So many cis-hetero men are obsessed with the D but don't admit it. Its a source of fun and pleasure I guess, plus lots of phallic jokes. Pride is a weird word to use mind

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

Men who send unsolicited dick pics are bad people

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

There's a psychological reason thats supposed to stop you being attracted to family members. Maybe it breaks sometimes?

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

-french kissing. why.

Nope, don't understand this one

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

Because they are fascinating, circles in circles! Sexual men are programmed to find them alluring and be drawn to them in a way that you can't describe.

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

-people "literally not being able to live" without sex

Well that's just stupid

5 hours ago, kite hunter said:

It isn't and for the most part there is a significant majority of people who accept it freely now (here in the UK)

There are all sorts of historical reasons why it wasn't accepted for a long time

Strange one, I guess I've never been in a situation where this has occurred. Sex drives people to do really odd things. I can't say I'd ever be interested in putting my mouth anywhere near certain parts.

I'm not gay, I can't imagine how utterly fucking shit it must have been to be a gay/bi person in the USA in the 80s. I think its flippant to think its as simple as "why didn't all gay/bi people just stop having unprotected sex" as if there wasn't enough of an education problem around it. I'm sure a LOT of gay/bi men were terrified out of their minds into being celibate and putting themselves back into the closet, especially due to the policies of the administration. It wasn't just gay men either, doctors got stigmatised for treating patients due to the ignorance of how the disease was transmitted at the time.

When an allo person bases their appearance on sexual attractiveness (on the eyes of another person).

My friend tried to make me agree how ugly she is but I just said there's nothing wrong with her and that's not the answer she wanted. She's been worried about her "overweight" so I said she would not be overweight if she made the BMI test. I've been worried about her getting into eating disorder or something with these talks. Anyhow, she replied, with a "dummy don't you get you're supposed to play along" tone that she knew she really didn't have a weight problem but she just has gotten a bit of (healthy) weight and doesn't feel as sexy anymore. Notice that we're both adults, far past our teens.

Another time I heard a story of a girl who had went to extremes to change her physical appearance from this to that to match the taste of her current partner/ crush. She even changed her personality to some extent just to appear attractive.

And I had a flasback to my teen years when my friends would base their shopping choices on what clothes they thought the boys would like to look at. At the time I thought they were just joking around and actually just had excuses to buy them.

Also thinking back, I can't help but wonder how many of the "you've lost weight" and "you look thin/ great" comments actually meant "you look hot" instead of "you look healthy, good for you"... 😐 And also all those people who also got super interested in my vegetarian/nearly vegan diet would actually want to learn how to look hotter instead of how to help the animals and the planet 😶

Since teens I thought really basing your choices on what you think someone else will like is just some extreme individuals with issues or a badly written teen movie plot. I can't get my head around that most allo peolle would really sacrifice a lot just for their appearance, and not even for themselves but for someone else, for the sake of attractiveness. Why it takes so long to realize things lol?

  • calling people hot and having one night stands. I've been told sex is fun... (ok, then)
  • Dating - where do I start! I can't think of anything more awkard than meeting up with someone to check them out.

Definitely can relate. I wrote a sizeable list of stuff before writing this post, some of which is virtually identical to what y'all wrote (because aces are such relatable people). Here's some of the stuff I didn't see as much, if at all:

1) Sex stores/sex toys. Why would someone want to fork over any amount of dough for a disembodied plastic dick?

2) The notion of sex in general, but what I find extra-weird is that people like doing it when they barely know the person. If you've read Missoula by Jon Krakauer, these references will make sense. If you haven't, just know that it's a book about sexual assault on college campuses (with a focus on the University of Montana, Missoula) and how the criminal justice system often fails to deal with rape cases in a satisfactory manner. The discussion of each case begins with the story of how the girl got raped, so I wouldn't recommend the book to those who think they'd rather not read about that.

I bring up Missoula because some of the assaults involve people who have just met each other. (FYI: I'm not blaming or judging any victims for getting sexually involved with someone they just met; I'm merely pointing out how weird that is from an ace point of view.) For instance, there was a case that started with a girl and a guy who met in a bar, and kissed after knowing each other for three hours or so (!). Another case was about a guy who happened to meet a girl on campus, talked to her and her friends for maybe 20 minutes (during which both of their friends persuaded them that they should hook up), and ended up raping her with her roommate in the room. Not fun :(

3) Brothels/whorehouses. This is kind of a subset of #2, but it deserves its own category because it's even weirder. Why do people want to have sex for the sole purpose of having sex, and with a stranger at that (and especially a stranger who's had sex with a lot of other people)? The fact that this pursuit is popular enough that it warrants the existence of an entire industry just baffles me. Also, I don't get why anyone would (willingly) make it their job to have sex with anyone who wants to, even if they themselves aren't attracted to that particular person.

4) Community Advisors (or Resident Assistants or whatever you call them) supplying condoms to a floor of... freshmen?!? Before I started college, I didn't know that there are enough sexually active freshmen to justify the CAs in offering free condoms, up for grabs, to the entire floor. For a few weeks, I recorded how many condoms were in the container on my CA's door each day, and the rate at which the number plummeted shocked me. I would collect my data points at 6am so no one would assume I was allo based on the fact that I was reaching into the condom container :)

5) The very idea of sexual attraction. If an allosexual asks me what a sexually attractive person looks like to society, I can tell them. I just can't relate to them when it comes to actually feeling sexual attraction for a human being.

6) Swingers. I could have included swingers as a subset of #2, but the group sex component and the fact that it's an entire 'lifestyle' is too alien to my ace mind to not have its own section. Also, the fact that swingers and aces can get mistaken for each other because they both wear black rings on the right hand adds to the weirdness. Is it a coincidence that I display the same symbol as someone who is the sexual opposite of me?

Haha - so relate to this! I used to live in a country where brothels are commonplace and I was always morbidly fascinated by them. Like, what? Why? Yuck? 🤣
