My country is the only country that gets an entire continent to itself. It sometimes gets referred to as an island because it shares no land borders with any other continent.

So you're going to pay for that wall? :P

Hm. Germany is pretty diverse, with a lot of local habits that would be considered "odd" a few hundred miles away. Example: I've lived in the southwest for three years. I rented a flat in an apartment block and they've got something they call "Kehrwoche" down there. Basically people take turns in cleaning the set of stairs on their respective floor. Swabians take this VERY seriously, as in your work basically doesn't count if you do it a day too early or too late :D we northerners are waaaaay more laid-back ;)

Czechs love ice hockey. And I mean LOOOOOVE.

It's almost a social norm to be honest - everybody goes to matches, everybody knows what the scores are and who's winning at any given moment of the season... excluding me, because I don't care about hockey at all. But you can't admit that. If someone asks you if you've been to the match and you reply something like "I don't like hockey that much", everyone in a 20 metre radius is gonna be like "WHAT THE FUCK asdfghjkl YOU DO NOT LIKE   H O C K E Y??!"

The everyman's rights in Finland give every person the right to roam freely on uncultivated land, even if the land is privately owned. You can hike, camp, pick berries, mushrooms and flowers, fish with a rod and line and even move along waterways with your boat. Of course walking straight into someone's back yard is not allowed, but as long as you do not disturb anyone or the nature (for example collecting bird eggs, felling trees or lighting open fire) you can enjoy the nature freely. And no landowner can choose to restrict these rights - only the government can set up restrictions for example areas used as strict nature reserves for research purposes. Most of the unihnabited land (which means a lot of land - Finland is the most sparsely populated country in Europe) is free for anyone to enjoy.

It applies to everyone, regardless of whether you're a Finnish citizen or not.

hm...

- We have the oldest national social health insurance system

- there are people in the east, that without moving significantly far away from where they were born, technically would have lived in three separate countries.. (German Reich, GDR and lastly the FRG)

- we have a literature era, that is (mostly) only found in German literature called "Sturm und Drang"

- one of our politicians in the EU parliament is from the satire party "die PARTIE"
