Arousal vs. attraction

Recommended Posts

Hi! ^_^

So I've been wondering what's the actual difference between attraction and arousal?

I find that I get aroused when kiss or touched "sexually" by someone, but it can be anybody! The person doesn't matter! So that arousal when touched, is attraction to the person? Or just a physical response?

Aka the reason why someone might be upset if you do certain things to them. Like yes, it felt nice and the body gave a reaction which said "Hey, get ready to copulate" but it doesn't mean the person themselves likes you. Bodies are just programmed to respond to stimuli, they don't respond to them differently regardless of who might be doing the action.

Arousal is a physiological response. Causes vary. It's not uncommon for people to become physically aroused for no discernible reason at all. Sometimes people become aroused by accidental touch, such as brushing against an object. People can also be aroused by human touch, even though they are not attracted to that person. Now if you're aroused by sexual fantasies or sexual imagery, there is an indication that you may be experiencing sexual attraction, whereby physical arousal is a response to sexual desire/libido triggered by attraction to that content. However, even there physical arousal is an unreliable indicator, since sometimes people will respond physically to sexual thoughts/imagery without experiencing the mental element of attraction, and sometimes people can find sexual fantasies/imagery mentally appealing but they don't respond physically in the absence of addition sensory input such as touch (arousal nonconcordance).

AVEN #1 fan

Arousal is when something gives you pleasure and you feel good about it,  sexual attraction is an kind of arousal.

sexual attractions is the desire to do sexual attacts triggered by people or other things.

Some aces can get aroused if they have libido ,  however they don't feel sexual attraction for other people.

If the fantasies are tied to a specific act, lets say; a fetish, then its still feasible to say the physical arousal,  caused by fantasy, still may not be sexual attraction, as the arousal isnt targeting the individual, but rather the act in itself (if that makes any sense)
