Asexuality at erotic film festival in Italy (woo-hoo!)

Hey everyone,

Here's just a quick post to give you an update from our Italian activists: Alice and Daniele travelled to participate at the 2nd "Fish & Chips" Festival, which ain't about food, it's about erotic cinema!

The organiser of the asexual presence is journalist Irene Pittatore, who has already worked with us in the past with a beautiful article on a magazine called Men's Wall (yay for reaching out to men), and invited us to this panel discussion/conference.

Being abroad, I couldn't participate, but our two brave activists went and did a spectacular job! Irene (the journalist) had organised fantastic things: first of all, she had prepared postcards asking people questions about asexuality and about pleasure as well, because the topic of the panel was going to be "asexuality and pleasure". See in the spoiler:

The back of the postcard was inviting them to return the postcard at the conference, doing both of a job of advertising and thought-provoking.

The attendancy was great, with estimated over 60 people in the room, some of them standing for over two hours as there were no more seats. In the panel, besides the journalists and our activists, a queer-friendly philosopher and the equal opportunities local MP-kind-of-person. I hear it went amazingly: it started with a generic intro on asexuality and then went on discussing the difficulties of living in a hetero-normative society for people who don't fit in that box.

Getting to the topic of pleasure, Alice and Dani and the other people participating discussed how pleasure in the broadest sense, for everyone, comes from many more sources than sex: food, travelling, art, etc. They then also had the opportunity to explore the diversity within the ace community and the fact that there are asexual folks who have sexual relationships, the difference between attraction and libido and much more.

The public was enthusiastic, asked a lot of good questions (including the desire for parenthood in the asexual community) and stayed the whole time and longer, many of them asking for contacts after the conference. So hey, here's a big shout-out to my fellow activists and huge kudos for their amazing job!
