I read this thread and then I realized how quick it is coming up!

Time to panic! :o

I don't do it anymore, but back when I used to it was simply by days. There's been a few Xmases in recent years where I woke up not even being aware it was the 25th.

I count down in weeks, and only then because knowing which week of advent we're in also tells me the number of Sundays left until Christmas.

Perhaps this is an opinion that should have been posted in Hot Box instead of Census, but I don't actually like Christmas all that much. The insane amount of hype and over-saturation of Christmas has turned me into a bit of a Grinch, to the point where if it weren't for the religious meaning I could see myself abandoning the holiday entirely. Not once has Christmas actually lived up to the two months of preparation

Used to count it by days, back when I was younger.

Now I just count how many days I have to study until exam week begins. :P

Don't much like Christmas, honestly. It's just stressful. Though I appreciate the vacation.

I already have my countdown app counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Sometimes I use a chocolate advent calendar as well (but I'll have to wait until December for that :) )

Back when I count down, I counted by days. Then hours then minutes as it got closer. I used to loooove Christmas. Not so much anymore. I totally like the presents and the chance to bake all the cookies I want, though :P

For me its either "sloppily" or sometimes the chocolate calendar too. - I'm merciless if co-workers don't empty theirs on time.

There are only '##' decorating days left until Christmas . LOL

(where ## is replaced by whatever the count is)

Days. I don't bother with months unless it's closer to Christmas.

Days, starting the countdown when we reach December. I outgrew chocolate advent calendars years ago but I still buy myself one, otherwise I'd forget.

Could we have an "I don't count down to Christmas" option,  as it's just another working day for me

Depends on the day.  I usually use Sundays (Advent, I'm a pastor's kid and I now work in a church office.  So Advent and the Methodist Calendar has become my counting system ), Birthdays (my family has 3 Dec birthdays: 3, 23, 24), and sleeps ("just go to bed and there are only X days left" etc).

Weeks, usually starting somewhere late October or early November, but mainly because Christmas = holidays, and one of the very few times a year I'm home

That said.. celebration-wise.. I'm mainly counting down to Sinterklaas/Saint Nicholas (5 December), because that's something you can't miss :p

Days, mostly. I have two Advent calendars this year, one from my Mom and one from my boss/co-conspirator. I never could say no to chocolate.

I also have an Advent wreath with four candles.

This year, though, I'm not so much impatient for Christmas, but rather for HR to tell me where I'm going to spend the next four years. They promised they would have my next assignment for me before Christmas.

(Go from the bottom link up)

8:33 3rd December

If I have done this right, we have less than 8906 Christmas songs left until Christmas. (If we say on average a Christmas song is about 3.5 minutes*). Do keep in mind that I have only just woken up though so I have no clue why I'm doing.

*I chose 3.5 minutes due to songs such as Last Christmas and Fairytale of New York being more than four minutes and songs such as Jingle Bells and Silent Night being around the two minute mark (dependant on who is singing it).
