Clinton is right, though. Any other president would have been impeached for what Trump has done.

I however also do admire her letting it be known that his impeachment must not be politically motivated. Pushing for it because he's a dick, just doesn't cut it.

I vaguely remember Bush getting shoes thrown at him in the Middle East, which I know there is a pretty nasty insult. So is throwing phones at presidents the American equivalent of that?

To be fair, he didn't throw it at the POTUS. And why, of all irony, is the guy undergoing a mental health evaluation? For throwing a phone at someone who clearly needs a mental health evaluation?

I think by now most non-mental-health-professional Americans could easily evaluate Trump in a New York minute.

Is it not just a ringing endorsement of his policies? :P:P

There is this saying I was told by some of my friends who are from Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, etc.

"Some people can only act right with the shoe"

Basically, type of person who is such a scumbag, only the bottom of a shoe bashed over their head could straighten them out.

They can only act right if forced to, essentially. Same person for whom there are barbaric consequences in many of these countries to send a message.

So throwing a shoe at them, is essentially telling them this. It's the utmost level of disrespect and ridicule.

Trump should have toilet paper thrown at him. He's full of shit.

The was a famous incident during the Cold War. Kennedy and Khrushchev were having a heated conference. Khrushchev removed his shoe and banged it on the table - an outrageous insult. Maintaining admirable sang froid Kennedy simply asked for a translation

Heh. Yeah, I found out bending over in some countries I had been to was seen as insanely rude.

I dated this Asian woman who would crouch and never bent over to pick things up. I thought she had a bad back, haha.

Bending over, is the equivalent in some places as a guy crossing his leg and pointing his shoe on the foot resting onto his thigh to his neighbor.

Means you're worth no more than under their shoe, or their butt.

I knew a girl who taught I Korea, Taiwan, ect and bent over to pick chalk to a giggling kindergarten class.

Kid ran up to her and her leggings with both hands clasped and pointed indexes and moved full steam ahead.

Plunged both indexes right in her buttcrack, yelling something like "kaputa!"

She yelled at him, highly upset as his fingers hit the bullseye. She felt violated and sent him to the office to scold him more later.

She was briefed on the culture in that office. And how rude what she did was.

She had to apologize to the now traumatized kid o_O

I mention this as I laugh at how often that Trump does that hand sign all the time.

The one where you do a circle with index and thumb and have all other fingers up to signify all is okay excellent.

He would be a relations nightmare as doubt he would bow in Japan, let alone stop those hand gestures where this signifies an anus, or worse.

My dad played "The First Family" record for me when I was a kid and I thought it was hilarious, but I never understood the banging sound effects until just now!

If an impeachment trial does make it to Senate, I am comforted by the fact that there are some Republicans who also believe Trump is full of shit. Mitt Romney is one of them, I'm certain he would consider Trump's behavior very carefully in light of the full un-redacted report.

I wonder if Putin will get an unredacted copy of the report before Congress does (if he hasn't already).

Krushchev actually banged his shoe at the United Nations.

I think Trump will be re-elected in 2020, because the Democrats have fractured into Bernie or bust (threatening to vote Trump if Bernie doesn't get the nomination), the old school Democrats that we are used to seeing who won't vote for a socialist. Then the Nu-Democrats that vote for people like Ocasio-cortez. They spent too much time and money on Trump, and now they have shit for the 2020 election except Biden... which I don't think a good majority of Democrats actually like. Many won't vote for him, because he is another "white old guy". If Clinton runs again, it is over lol.

It isn't looking good for anyone at this point, which is exactly why Trump will win.

Ugh the dems just need to get their shit together. No, they shouldn't focus exclusively on winning, but that doesn't mean they should go insane.

(For the record, I am currently voluntarily ignorant about the political situation around the 2020 elections in the States. It's easy to ignore homeland news when you're living in another continent.)

One thing I learned today is how he wins at being the biggest loser. News stories talking about how he reported bigger losses on his tax returns than anyone else at the time. Nobody reported more losses than him. He is a genius at losing money (over a billion dollars in a 10 year period). It wasn't just some tax dodge to avoid paying taxes as he also had to give up property, such as buildings, airplanes, a yacht, etc. Mr. brilliant businessman; Mr. "art of the deal". So much losing. You will get tired of winning losing.

No real surprise, in my opinion.

I figured that's why he didn't publish his tax returns, as every other president has.  Now the only bank that would  loan him money has had their records subpoenaed, and he's filed suit against them to stop them from doing so.

Gentle Giant

Why do so many people want to get involved with the Trump administration, knowing how things go down there? So many people leaving, getting fired, so much chaos, getting into trouble, going to jail. Who in their right mind wants to get involved? Why did Barr submit a resume to get the job of attorney general and now doing things to protect Trump? What is it about Trump that people put themselves at risk for him? I just don’t get it.

I wonder if more people in his administration actually do think he’s terrible and not saying anything for fear of his wrath, but will actually vote for the Democrat or abstain voting for Trump since he won’t be able to know who they vote for. Or maybe even vote for Bill Weld in the primary. Why don’t we hear much about Bill Weld?

I can’t stand Rudy Giuliani! What a liar! He thinks it’s ok to get help from other countries to dig up dirt on Trump’s opponents.

If you want to talk about getting help from foreign countries then we can look at the Steele Dossier used as the basis for the FISA warrant and who pays Steele's retirement.

@Gentle Giant, simple, because he's at the top of the tree, and has the power. There'll always be climbers who want to associate with the Big Boss, whoever they are, in the hope that being with them, and the resultant networking will set them up for life. Just that when you have such an unusually high turnover of personnel, there's more climbers, and more who've been discarded.

No real surprise, in my opinion.

IRS rules used to allow the rich to not pay taxes on forgiven debt . They used to allow other dodgy things like swapping debt for stock. From what I've heard, they were even allowed to write off debt that owed to _other_ people and discharged in bankruptcy as a business expense-- even though it was never paid! Does it begin to make sense now how Trump operated? And why he wears the crown of The King of Debt with so much haughtiness? How many of us could do that?

And few people know that the person often given credit for spearheading the drive to change these rules was.....  ::::::drumroll::::: US Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton.

Want to try a nifty experiment? Ask your stockbroker why The Trump Organization doesn't trade on the New York Stock Exchange? How an IPO for it would go? But keep an oxygen tank ready to revive him when he goes in respiratory arrest from laughing too much.

Kellyann Conway may be right, that people wouldn't understand Trump's tax returns because they don't know about these accounting tricks. But they'd be howling mad if they did. That's probably the biggest reason he doesn't want his financials to ever see the full light of day. Yeah, sure-- it was all legal. But morally correct? Ha! To blackmail some you owe a lot of money to by threatening them with non-payment unless they keep on lending you money?

P.T. Barnum and Charles Ponzi are like boys cheating at a game of marbles compared to this guy.

My guess is because if you are listed on the NYSE, you'd need to make a lot of financial info public that they wouldn't.

One of the flaws in the us business regulatory is that limited liability is granted without the burden or obligatioms to show you are good.

Here, if say trump's Irish golf course wanted to buy €1 million on credit, I could go to cro and get the financial statements (I have viewed them on cro. It has lost a lot of money) to see the financial state before I part with € 1 million euro of stock to a company that might be bad.

There is no such filing obligation of financial statements in the US. How do I know a company is good to sell on credit without the information?
