If you're looking for non-koolaid sources on Trump's insanity, I'm happy to provide:

https://www.youtube.com/user/SecularTalk/search?query=trump

This one is particularly characterizing, and hard to deny, unless you want to say someone actually went through the trouble of perfectly imitating Trump's voice and posing as him in a random phone call:

It's media propaganda! And find it funny that people think the media is some unitary entity who is conspiring to brainwash the world.

To be fair, that is somewhat accurate about mainstream media. I think it was like the late 1960s when a bunch of powerful people in the US basically said to each other "Why are we letting the media talk *against* our own interests? We *own* those guys. Let's do something about this."

Bias in mainstream media is of course a very nuanced and subtle thing, but if you want to tell me corporate owned media isn't biased toward corporate interests to a greater or lesser extent, I don't know what to think of you.

Well look at fox and CNN or read Washington Post and Times then and you will get two different opinions. It is not that difficult to get several sources from "mainstream" and lesser media houses. In the west you can choose which media house to follow, and they can set their own agenda, which speaks for itself.

And I have seen newspapers who are critisizing corporate interests, governments, opposition and other things. If this make you think of me in certain ways, for simply reading and watching various sources and seeing it is no hivemind media - so be it.

Sure, even my hero Chomsky thinks that mainstream media sources can be useful sources of information. Obviously, though, you have to learn to understand their inherent bias, and treat that as part of the information, not just take what they say at face value (this is true for any sort of source, though).

And would you take what you get from Süd Deutsche Zeitung, Times, Washington Post and Guardian the most serious or "mediaisilluminati.com" the most serious?

So you are posting newsites as factual evidence when things like NyT are well known drive by media? This is exactly what I meant about drinking the media koolaid.

Tell me, then, what would you accept as a trustworthy source of information? Where's your hard evidence to contradict?

Id post some but im on mobile atm. You can youtube countless interviews with everything from trumps butler to his ex wife who actually know the guy and watch the media trip over themselves as the people they interviewed destroy their narrative. You can google videos of interviews and various other things from way befor the election that shows what a generous guy he is. He was on Oprah and Dr. Phil. Trump claimed years ago hed only run if America got bad. He also predicted the brussels attack in January.

I like to get to know both sides very well befor supporting anyone. I dont fall for buzzwords nor do I pretend Im morally superior. Ive seen the ugliness of this world first hand and I cannot emphasise enough how badly people got their priorities with their nation wrong.

Oh, so Youtube's acceptable?

Far from being genuine, Trump is just about the most egregiously dishonest major politician in recent memory. He lies like he breaths, calmly and confidently, and he'll assert things so strongly that he can almost make you believe it even when you know it to be false. His buzz is such that his supporters don't even care, that they'll believe him regardless of whatever evidence to the contrary.

What on earth are you talking about? The New York Times is media. It's one of the few trustable news sources.

No. Trump is not Hitler.

Hitler was a National Socialist. Trump is a capitalist.

Do you not know what drive-by media is? They do hits on people with little to no fact checks for sensationalism. It's literally comic book villainy. They are not a reliable source and have been pulling out their fucking scalps over Trump he began playing the media like a fiddle.

It is true there are no unbiased sources, but by the gods no news is freaking right wing. They may be more centrist than some (like Fox news) but the majority of them are hard core liberal and sensationalist.

Are you claiming that the NYT is drive-by media? and you're conflating hard-core liberal with sensationalist?

Woooo.

That would be a boring comic book.

Yah know folks... yah gotta seriously be worried about a guy that is so whacked that not even extreme right wing conservatives like him, except for maybe David Duke...

And oh, by the way, The Donald was on the cover of a magazine lately... it was the Southern Poverty Law Center magazine "Intelligence Report" -- the mag that comes out about four times a year and it's all about "hate groups." This guy is like a one man hate group I guess... (sigh).

They don't like him because he's not playing their establishment shill game. As far as I'm concerned that's a good thing.

If you're questioning if Trump is Hitler because of what he says about immigration and if you are a democrat, watch this:

No, Trump just knows how to manipulate stupid people. He's playing the game far more intelligent than many before him.

The difference is that Bill Clinton doesn't handle this interview in a way that makes him seem incredibly stupid. He also didn't propose building a large and expensive wall, and then somehow making Mexico pay for it. Honestly, I don't see why some people find Trump so charismatic. The way he talks has no nuance.

How do you not see how he is charismatic? He knows how to talk and how to use the ideals of others to support him. He isn't trying to win over everyone, like you or I, but he knows how to target people and get them on his side. That's why he can only say "We've won with the poorly educated. I love the poorly educated!" They're all too knee deep in to his views. He said he was going to build a wall, but he wasn't serious, and if you follow him, you'll see he admitted it was realistic. He said it to win over the extremist in the party, and now with no one to stop him in the GOP, he's moving to the left to win the rest over. He's played it smart. So yea, he says stupid things and contradicts himself, because idiots believe it, and that's all he needs. He only needs to win, not make everyone like him.

I suppose if he manages to convince people, then he is charismatic by definition. However, from my perspective, the way he speaks doesn't make him seem terribly appealing. If the content of what he said stayed mostly the same but spoke in a different way, I would find his speeches more appealing, but I still likely wouldn't support him.(I would support the more liberal candidate, which unfortunately isn't as liberal as I would like) If saying stupid things that contradict each other works, then I can't really criticize the strategy, but I'm not terribly happy that it does work.

Clinton was a moderate Democrat, just a bit to the right of Obama. Bush was a neocon. Those terms probably mean different things in the US and Germany.

You don't say. ;)

Good old "radical socialist" Bernie would be just a little bit left of center by our standards, we've got folks in parliament who are very much to the left of him.

Obama - let alone the Clintons - would feel quite at home with our centre-rights (Merkel's CDU).

And your republicans... well, extreme right-populists are on the rise over here too (and it worries the hell out of me!), but just a few years ago, a party that sweeps half of 'murica would just have appealed to a minuscule fringe in Germany. (Remember the Obama-Romney election? Support for Obama in polls among Germans hovered around the 90% mark!)

Hitler was a National Socialist. Trump is a capitalist.

But referring to Hitler as a national socialists as the difference between trump and hitler needs more detail into what Hitler's politics of national socialism entailed.

I could call myself a good Christian conservative but doesn't make it and it definitely isn't.

I see in both Hitler and trump (and Putin and others) a form of extreme nationalism where it holds as their own nationality as the most important thing. Don't mistake this as saying Hitler and trump are the same because they happen to have this thing in common.

Trump isn't Hitler reincarnated, Hitler had 3 or 4 reasons he would use to murder me. Trump probably doesn't, I hope. :d

I doubt Trump wants to murder anyone. He just wants to win the Presidency. Then who knows what he will do with it. In his business career, he's been like a dog that actually catches the car and then just walks away, satisfied to leave a bite mark on the car.

I think, like Hitler, Trump would be perfectly content escalating his anti-Mexican rhetoric and actions to keep his demographic fired up and engaged. Moving from "don't let them in", to "harass them", to worse. Do you really think it'd bother Trump if it came to smashing the storefronts of Mexican shopkeepers, or seeing them lynched, or rounding them up in internment camps? Would he lose any sleep over it, if it helped extend his control over his followers?

I don't think Trump "wants" to murder anyone. But I think he'd casually murder thousands if it suits his ends, and not even miss a beat.

Frankly, everyone, I'm just absolutely terrified about Trump winning this election. The guy has such an overblown ego he's likely to do something truly crazy if he has the power to do it, like blow up some country that annoys him... knowing him he'll probably blow up some country because the women there aren't pretty enough, or the people in the country are "losers," or he has a bad day, or whatever... he talks crazy, he'll probably do something crazy, and ruin this country while he's at it.
