@Hammerhead Oh no! Sorry your turntable died! Glad you could get a new one and enjoy your records again! I still have my vintage Scott table, if I remember correctly was from 1979. I hope it holds out quite a while yet.

Thanks Gentle Giant.  Gentle Giant is a band I haven't heard in a long time.  <Checks my record collection> Yup, I have 3 of their LPs; The Power and The Glory, in'terview, & Free Hand.  Will have to give another listen.

I hope to someday get some LP records of Gentle Giant. For now I have Amazon downloads of the albums Gentle Giant (first), Acquiring The Taste, Octopus, Free Hand, The Power and The Glory, and In A Glass House. I really need to get the rest of their albums. Here is a fun performance of Free Hand...

Ok any of you peeps ever wear stuff like in that video @tiptoenail and all

Yes, it was the fashion of the time, I didn't have much say at the time given my age in the 1970's

When I start to get depressed and down, I tend to revert back to some of the first albums I ever owned and really listened to. Thick as a Brick and Aqualung are two that always come up. No matter what my mood is, they always hit the spot. I will forever have a thing for Ian Anderson as well. I mean, look at him in this. How can you not?

@Hadley167 Great Tull video! Thanks for posting it. I hope you're feeling much better now. Yes, music can really help your mood. I try to stay away from music that is depressing. Like Black Sabbath for instance. I can't listen to them too much any more. So I will listen to something more upbeat and fun, like The Monkees or Bobby Sherman.

Lalo Schifrin, great choice!

I'm not listening to any music right now, but yesterday on a long drive I chose the Guardians of the Galaxy "mix tape" soundtrack and a Van Morrison cd and my companions on the drive said they were good choices. :)

I just discovered the Lalo Schifrin album recently while looking up the Mannix theme since Mike Connors died. I love TV Show theme music. Henry Mancini's music is great!

I vaguely remember Redbone. Last LP record I played recently was John Fogerty's Centerfield and a tape of the LP record Casino Royale which is the soundtrack to a James Bond movie starring Peter Sellers and David Niven. I listened to the record a lot as a kid and didn't see that silly movie until I was an adult. Heard it was the inspiration for Austin Powers. Oh and the end theme is sung in the movie and I liked it, but it is not on the album!

Oh, my first thought was Leon Redbone. I didn't connect that name with the song, Come and Get Your Love. I like that song. One of many good ones on the Guardians mixtape soundtrack. I always liked John Fogerty's song Centerfield (but I don't know if I ever heard any other songs from the album). I vaguely recall seeing that version of Casino Royale many years ago (on tv, not in the theaters when it came out). What a cast, eh? I don't recall the soundtrack at all though.

My most recent batch of music (every once in a great while I buy a couple of CDs and rip the songs I like to my laptop) included Blondie, Heart, and Robert Palmer. Oh, and last night I was listening to some Jefferson Airplane on youtube (White Rabbit, Somebody to Love)  What a voice!

But I also often listen to Pandora if I want music on at home (which isn't a lot), and on that the main station I listen to is more along the lines of jazz, a little bossanova, and other genres and artists other than the well-known rock of my childhood/early adulthood.

Oh I forgot about Leon Redbone! This Bud's for you!  I was thinking of the rock group named Redbone.

John Fogerty's Centerfield album is great! I love and recommend it! I Saw It On TV is a really nice mellow song on the album that kind of makes me feel teary and I like how he's a little vague who and what he is talking about in it. You can figure it out.

The music of Casino Royale was by Burt Bacharach with Herb Alpert doing the main theme and the song The Look of Love sung by Dusty Springfield. I don't know who the male singer was on the record or in the closing theme for the actual movie.

I like the artists and songs you mentioned for recent purchaces and listening to.
