Just wanna share how in Mexico, we've been working among LGBT+ organizations, for visibility and Human Rights, for theHomo/Bi/Pan- romantics (and etcetera) people on our community. We have also been participating in conferences, radio interviews, tv interviews, and internet interviews. :D13332945_1413959928629897_56240506898838

Do you feel that asexuality is well recognized in Mexico? I've been wondering lately if asexuality is more recognized in Spanish-speaking cultures, because I see so much Spanish language asexual media (like the mattress commerical that aired in Spain recently), where hardly anybody seems to know or talk about it in English-speaking cultures.

Hey guys, I could say non Spanish speaking countries apparently have better acceptance or tolerance for asexuality than Latin American ones, even tho, we do our best for visibility. My friend and I are the ones, moving the activism in our group, with the conferences and interviews. I must say it was hard to introduce asexuality to the gay community specially in those all male places but they promised us, since they liked us, they would do their best to support anyone they meet at bars that might give the glance of being asexual.

Because our members have come in, on the groups and told their stories we decided to be more active on activism, from pretty much sexual assaults, even from husbands, to death treats, to homoromantics being called ''freaks or sickos'' on gay bars, because ''How can u be gay and not want sex?''. Even me cost me to realize the bad RS i was stuck on years before knowing I was not broken instead that I was asexual.

My friend came out to the family and was not taken good, specially from the dad. But as days pass by, he starts to accept him, all because he doesnt want his only son ''to die alone'' (asexual & aromantic). In my case i told my mom, and since she rushed me to the hospital to check if my ovaries were working good, i never told anyone else from the family, but my activism has help me to be open about it and share my experiences with people.

From all this, is why we do our effort of making us visible, to people avoid going through this stuff, or at least, know they are not alone, and to people and families not be quick to judge if they are misinformed.

I'm gonna leave the links for our groups, and the only 2 interviews we have in our knowledge that were published on the radio, the other ones, we have not known the links or if the people that interviewed us went ahead to publish (shame on you cosmopolitan and vice magazines >.<!!). Either way as soon as i get more i shall share it here :D

FB-group FB-page Twitter Radio1 Radio2 and my tumblr for images on spanish (either way im tweeting more than what i post on tumblr) / (for the group, I highly recommend to join, in case you DO know spanish, we have had issues before for this, and we even have trolls in there so better warn)

Also for those in Mexico City area, here's a list of the places we set bonds of mutual help in case u need either psychological help/therapy or help in case of family violence and stuff or just a place to hang out.

  1. Udiversidad.
  2. Bi-positivo.
  3. El 77.
  4. Afrodisiaco Radio
  5. Cuenta conmigo.
  6. Injuve.
  7. Fraternidad Gay.
  8. El taller de los martes.
  9. DIVU.
  10. Familias por la diversidad sexual.
  11. Yaaj.
  12. Centro comunitario por la diversidad sexual.
  13. CECASH.
  14. Amor es Amor.
  15. Acatlan Diverso.
  16. Grupo de diversidad sexual FES Iztacala.

Just a quick thing: We are not a society/organization like a legal /register/famous or etc, one. (if we were we could surely do more for people)
WE do everything from our money, effort and time. Because this is our fight (all aces).
And when we do interviews unless is a direct or personal question, we reply with I, from the rest of it, we talk as a team, ''We are doing this, we have done this, we marched together on the pride march'' just cuz there's no I on team, (unless everyone does pictures for sharing, we give the credit or we dont take the signature out of it, so the person gets it's credit)... (plus the good thing from all this activism, I became a human/lgbt rights defender ^///^)

Everyone, thanks for checking the post :D we do appreciate it. Have an awesome day!

Hey! I'm Mexican as well and I wonder where you are from. Are you from DF? You know as well as me that our country, being roman catholic and very conservative doesn't speak much of LGBTQIA+ issues and much less of asexuality, but it's great to know there are asexual people marching. I really didn't know and I'm so happy to know about that. This is just great. Thank you for working on this.
