Asexuals who watch porn: What kind?

Recommended Posts

will123

I have to post about something that happened last week. Normally I have no interest in video porn and haven't been looking at much of any lately to speak of. Well for some reason I Googled deep throat and got a bunch of hits. One thumbnail looked interesting of a brunette 'servicing' a guy. Normally I don't 'gush' over porn, but three words, "Jenna J. Ross'. Oh my. In keeping with current events, if giving a blow job was an Olympic sport, I think she'd be in the running for a gold metal.

The only thing I found disconcerting about her, was her appearance. With her small breasts and shaved pubic area, she looked like a younger teen (not that I have any experience with any). Apparently she was born in '88, so she's legal.

I guess there's a market for actresses that appear younger than their age.

I think there's something exciting about sexual passion, even without experiencing it myself.

I don't really watch much porn featuring real people - I find it a bit gross, and the noises really put me off : \ anime porn is okay, though!

I especially enjoy BDSM because it usually has all kind of complex scenarios and power dynamics. While the sex itself can be boring, the context surrounding it is usually interesting.

Well, if I ever am in the mood, I will keep this in mind! ;)

Mostly hentai, though I prefer sensual focus over just fucking. The whole "in and out" when it's all there is without any emphasis on feelings, connection and intimacy  is just gross and does nothing to me. I can watch some insofar I can get physically turned on by seeing others having sex, but only up to a point. If it's too "rough" and without gentle love and feelings, then I just feel repulsed.

With that said, I've come to learn I do prefer a very specific kind of sexual dynamic which would fall into BDSM, though I've only come to learn about this recently myself.

Even though I am not that into kissing or sex myself (haven’t pinned it down yet but I am at least demiromantic and am in a committed relationship)  I enjoy reading romance novels; and reading about kissing, making out, and sex can turn me on. And if I look at porn it is only pictures, not videos. Then I can pretend it is a re-enacting of something I read. I enjoy the romantic context.

I guess that's one reason I liked the 'soft core' girl on girl porn.

Honestly, because it's very difficult for me to find what I look for in porn, I've come to write my own erotica. At least I know I get what I want from it. I can watch porn and get off to it if that's just what I need at that particular time, but it's rare that I enjoy it, so to speak. Hentai I can watch because it can be utterly hilarious though, whereas I find that real porn is mostly just gross. idk, sex to me is kind of "disgusting", especially when people begin to involve lots and lots of body fluids like spit. It feels more like it's some kind of strange body horror than something, in my own eyes, beautiful between two people as an expression of love and desire towards one another.

Has anyone watched porn as a time filler without masturbating?

Last night I looked up a video I had watched before of an actress going down on a guy. It was just over ten minutes long. I didn't get aroused or attempt to masturbate. I was more attracted to the girl's face and her body than actually what she was doing. She's a cute, petite brunette. It was if I was just watching a regular movie or TV program.

That being said porn (especially hetero') hasn't been a big interest of mine. The few DVDs I have are typical Playboy girl on girl stuff portraying their models 'interacting' with each other.

I don't really like looking at porn, with one big exception (that is very rarely done well): shibari--Japanese rope bondage. And I prefer that in stills.

But really? I read Literotica. I prefer my mind's images and characters to anything I can see on a screen. Main pick: BDSM (and some non-consent). I have a masochistic streak in my fantasies a mile wide, but I never (okay, very rarely) put myself in my fantasies. I have a movie tailor made to my tastes! And I don't have to worry about getting computer viruses that way too.

Porn that doesn't involve sex/genital interaction is the best kind.  But on the internet that's almost a contradiction.

I rarely watch porn, and when I do I hate it, but the more vanilla it is, the less I hate it. It also seems better when they are less sexual and more playful.

Also, stripteases are so boring. She doesn't need to spend 3 minutes taking off her shirt, just do it and get it over with so we can get on with our lives.

I watch quite a variety, I especially like anything messy or kinky. I'm not really interested sexually in the people themselves (though I'll admit some porn actors are aesthetically pleasant to me) but rather the acts and imagining me and my partner doing them.

I preferred the close up stuff where you can’t see their faces. Since I’m not attracted to the actual people, I don’t need or want to see them. I just wanted to focus on the sex, not the people.

I don't get it, and this may be my blind ignorance talking, but can someone explain to me how pornography, specifically videos) can be arousing to anyone -- asexual or otherwise? The visuals may be a turn on, but if they're anything like the sound, then it's completely hammed up and exaggerated. Entertaining as they may be -- and yes I've laughed at many a moan -- I literally can't see how porn can get anyone off. Amateur porn may be more realistic (I dunno?) but it's just the visuals and audio -- you don't feel what they feel so there's a remoteness or a disconnect from screen/speakers to brain, no?

I get erotic literature to a certain degree, because it's of your own imagination -- though the scenario, thoughts, and actions are dictated by the words on the page. Pictures I can get too -- because (1) it's worth a thousand words or so I hear and (2) you see what they want you to see with the surrounding circumstances cut out. Porn videos though, exploitation and objectification aside, never made sense to me. Then again, I don't get the pull of sexual desire either sooo...

Fy

P.S. If anyone wants to take an attempt at explaining the... allure? of pornographic videos, do keep in mind that I'm literally blinder than a bat here. I've absolutely no usable vision besides minimal light perception, so there's definitely a paradigm shift of sorts you'd have to get around first.

It’s sort of like empathy. If someone is happy, you feel happy. If someone is enjoying a delicious ice cream cone, you think about how much joy you get from eating ice cream and suddenly you want some too. Watching or imagining someone having sex reminds you of how good sexual sensation feels and you start to feel it a little bit. That’s really the best way I can explain it.

I get that to a certain degree, but with porn, the lack of realism would make it even harder for one to emote to, no? I mean yeah, you could say that the lack of realism applies to television and other portrayals in popular media as well, but the hamming up, as it were, is for dramatic purposes, e.g., drowning would be a lot harder to spot if portrayed realistically. So, in order for one to have a decent amount of arousal in order to do anything useful with it, they would have to watch a heck of a lot of porn. I would imagine the effort would very much outweigh the result short-lived gratification -- too high of a cost -- or maybe people are more patient than I give them credit for... That, or the "reminder" is all they need to get things going, e.g., a sparkplug to start a car.

Biblioromantic

I've said this before in other places, but I have a pretty high libido even though I'm as ace as they come. My body/mind literally need an "O" every so often. Sometimes it takes a kickstart to get the system moving in the right direction, so I might watch something then. Other times, I just need the variety porn provides. Once you've found a website or category that meets your tastes on a consistent basis, it's easy to flip from one video to another and change things up enough that it gets exciting again if the same-old, same-old gets boring and/or repetitive. For those of us that don't fantasize, porn is a tool we can use instead.

And make no mistake, we do know it's not real. They are paid actors, and the movie is a fantasy specially crafted with a specific setting, careful lighting and camera work, etc. At least the good, professional ones are; some/most of them are crap. But just like actors in a Hollywood movie can make you cry or fall in love or laugh, actors in a porn sequence make people horny. That's the whole point.

I get the whys of it all -- that I have no problem empathizing with. I couldn't fantasize on my own no matter how hard I try, so I get needing prepared material to use as fodder for whatever purpose. What I don't get is how "actors in a porn sequence make people horny." Based on fantasy, specially crafted, and otherwise artificial, pornography is significantly different from a Hollywood movie in the fact that they are usually deliberately hammed up -- appealing (I assume) to the tastes of the average male viewer. It is those general tastes that I don't get -- how can a video that differs so much from actual carnal pleasures be in any way arousing? Or maybe I've seen just crap videos -- I wouldn't know.
