I've wondered how you think about yourself being asexual. Are you happy with your sexuality or rather sad?Or do you even have any feelings about it?

And please do not take the answer possibilities literally :P

I have rather mixed feelings about asexuality. On one hand, I'm very content but, on the other, there is a nagging voice in my mind that wishes to be normal without a-anxiety. It's a bit of fire and ice together ... very confusing.

I think it's one less thing to worry about in my life. Of course the whole wanting an asexual relationship kind of gives me more to worry about, but at least I can focus all my time and energy into creative projects without having to worry about a sex drive.

I like being asexual, feeling more 'in control' and not dominated by my hormones, but I hate being stuck in a sexual world and being 'different'.

Right now, I'm not so sure... I'm still unsure of myself and for some reason, can't tell what I am, but just sort of go with the label "asexual." If I were sure of myself, I would be happy.

I think I like being asexual, I can't imagine being any way else, and I definately don't want to change.

Although, I could also say I have a don't really care attitude. Since if had had "always" been sexual I don't think I'd have much of a problem with it.

I'm not dancing through the streets, throwing flowers everywhere, but I'm happy with my lack of interest. It frees up my mind for other things.

I am mightily glad I realized I am asexual. It took so much pressure off me that now everything seems so much easier, walking, talking, breathing and living in general. I just love it!!!

I feel alienated at times (chiefly when people around me are gushing over their SOs and I just don't "get it"), but overall, I'm pretty content being asexual now that I know I'm not broken. It gives me all kinds of time and energy to devote to things I care about.

Yes, I'd accepted and adapted to my situation and lived to the advantages of the single lifestyle before discovering the existence of other asexuals - now things are even better!

At the moment I'm perfectly happy with it. :)

Although this might change if I ever get seriously involved with someone who wants more. :(

This is how I feel, totally... But more I hate feeling like I'm one of the few who's "smart enough" to realize theres more to life than sex. It's really a hard concept for me to grasp that for some people its all they think about, even if they cant help it...? But yes, I love who I am in the asexual section!

I really don't know ... I'm still getting over this "problem", but inside I feel it's freeing me.

The only thing I still can't do is to stand face to face and tell to anybody "I'm asexual." This would be problem for me, but I love my family for that they accept I haven't got boyfriend and I'm not looking for anybody.

The day I will tell somebody who I really am and what I really feel will be great for me, psychically ...

I'd like to hear a little explaination from those who are unhappy :P

Because television, movies, music, and a lot of people would have me to believe that sex makes the world go round and that I'm missing the greatest thing on earth.

I imagine it must be how gay people feel when they see all the cards in the store have a man and woman on them, all movie/TV love stories are about a man and a woman, how people assume they are heterosexual until they're told otherwise--the world is set up for people not like them, the same as it's set up for people who want sex. I don't like being constantly reminded that I'm different from other people, that they have this cool thing that I can never have.

Because sexual people will have times where they are not thinking of sex and don't want to do it for whatever reason, but I will never have a time when I do want to do it.

If friends/coworkers are talking about sex, I have to go along with them and pretend it's great unless I want to be honest and have them act like I just said I'm a little green man from Mars because I admit I'm not into sex.

Also in general, watching people kiss makes me want to gag and it's hard to get in an hour of TV or movies without someone sucking face somewhere along the line.

I know it's rather horrible to think this way but I do feel a bit superior to some people I know. Because of sexual relationships people I know have, they're being financially and personally sucked dry by people they're having sex with. And you can't say to them "He's a leech" because they just reply "But I'm in loooooove". And there is nothing you can do to counter this myserious sexual love excuse.

I've never been stellar at handing interpersonal relationships. All I know is that it suits me not to get involved in sexual relationships. At the age of 20, all they seem to do is mess up your life.

I rarely feel lonely. OK, sometimes I wish I could have an exclusive intimate committed friendship with someone - their gender wouldn't be at all important, just their personality and interests. Kind of like a marriage without any sexual component. But such a relationship is at the bottom of my current list of priorities. And I am not compromising my principles to have an exclusive sexual relationship, because it wouldn't be a relationship I'd be happy with.

I would like to like to be asexual, if that makes any sense?

Yep, makes perfect sense, and I feel the same way a lot of the time.

But I must say, I've gotten a lot happier with it after realizing that there are actually other asexuals out there... :D

I'm proud to be different from the pack. There's nothing wrong with being sexual, but it just feels god to be different, you know? Without all of that "damn I need to get laid" foolishness. :)

On the other hand, I get lonely sometimes....and that's not something asexuals can always easily fix..

So I'm not really sure.

A part of me is happy to be asexual because I can do other things. My mind is sharper, my thoughts clearer and I can think about science more efficiently.

But most of me is very very sad. I love my husband, he's so special, so unique and carring, such a gentleman. But he's also sexual and we not be able to make it work together. It's very painful and I don't uderstand why it has to happen to me :( Why can't I just have wild screaming orgasms like every other woman???

I'm happy. I like who I am, and asexuality is part of that. If I wasn't asexual I wouldn't be me, and I don't know whether I'd like myself as much, so I'll stick with what I know.

I wasn't always so accepting of myself though, and I used to feel quite upset at times that there was something "wrong" with me, even though I couldn't work out quite what it was (before I found this place).

I have so much other stuff going on in my life at the moment that I'm glad I don't need to find time for a relationship, not least because it might mean having to give up something that I enjoy more!

I certainly am. I have never cared what others think and have always done my own thing. The problem lies with those who can't or won't accept it, not with we asexuals.

I'm a don't care. I don't really think about it away from AVEN, I never celebrate it so yea, don't really care.

Nope -- not every other woman! I'm actually betting (no proof) that more women really aren't interested in sex than are interested in it.

I wouldn't say I'm happy about it. I have nothing against the fact that I am asexual, so I suppose I'll go with I like being asexual. Only thing I don't like is the reactions I get from people when they hear about being asexual, which is usually them thinking it's a total joke.
