How big a deal is sex in a relationship?

A sexual person without sexuality will wither and die inside just as one would physically die from food.

Oh, please.

One could argue that lack of food is preferable, because at least your body will do you the courtesy of dropping dead after prolonged unavailability.

How would you do psychologically if no one ever spoke to you again? I know asexuals really can't get their heads round this, just as sexuals can't entirely get the reverse, but to most sexuals, no human communication /no sex are pretty comparable.

(Edited to fix strange autocorrect-induced error)

Lots of asexuals here who genuinely don't have any social desires to be fair. Which is fine, but it makes it hard for them to understand why we care so much.

Yea right. That's called "sour grapes". These "lots of asexuals" are falling apart internally in anxiety, stress, and what not, caused (among other things) by inability to socially integrate and be accepted. If you're meditating in a cave in a state of constant bliss then sure, you're fine without society. If you're browsing internet forum while on anti-depressants you're not someone without social desires, you're just in denial. It's like being on a plane and saying "no traveling desires or needs whatsoever, nope, nada".

Well, at least most of them use this site for something positive, rather than taking out their own negative feelings on others..
