Asexual Aqua
I could be completely off the mark here, but does anyone else think that "Ace of Hearts" by Zella Day is somehow related to asexuality? I've put a few possible interpretations in bold below, but they don't all seem to match up with each other. Any ideas? Caught you at midnightNot in my right mindWhat you're afraid of (repulsed?)Is where I just came fromAn ugly confessionI think that I'm brokenWhen I try to be open (she's ace?)I get the feeling that I'm giving up on something I love, too much (she's demi and breaking up with her partner?)The sweetest misery that's taking me, I'm lost in the rushBecauseEver since you've been my ace of heartsHit me like a freight train in the darkCome on baby take me far awayI wanna get so lost in the great escapeWe shouldn't have to tryWe shouldn't have to try so hardWe shouldn't have to tryWe shouldn't have to try so hardYou think you can meet meAlone on the side streetThere's darkness between usThe moon is a witnessAn ugly confessionI feel so unstableWhen it's out on the tableI get the feeling that I'm giving up on something I love, too muchThe sweetest misery that's taking me, I'm lost in the rushBecauseEver since you've been my ace of hearts (partner is ace?)Hit me like a freight train in the darkCome on baby take me far awayI wanna get so lost in the great escapeWe shouldn't have to tryWe shouldn't have to try so hardWe shouldn't have to tryWe shouldn't have to try so hard (she thinks she should find sex more enjoyable than she currently does?)Ooh, ooh, ooh, oohShouldn't have to try so hardOoh, ooh, ooh, oohShouldn't have to try so hardEver since you've been my ace of heartsHit me like a freight train in the darkCome on baby take me far awayI wanna get so lost in the great escapeWe shouldn't have to tryWe shouldn't have to try so hardWe shouldn't have to tryWe shouldn't have to try so hard - Aqua
Frigid Pink
While we don't know what the artist's specific meaning for the lyrics was (maybe there's an interview about it somewhere), most art is open to interpretation and can be meaningful to different people in different ways, so, I could definitely see this song being meaningful to someone in a "mixed" relationship with (potential) sexual incompatibilities. In general, I like the song and the lyrics, so, thanks for sharing it!
