I think this site should add something on normal sexuality. Not everyone is hypersexual or looks at someone and wants to bang them. Wanting intimacy with someone is normal. I know this sounds like the definition of Demisexual however I personally can't think this far ahead. I need a specific person in the picture before partnered sex is something I'm interested in.

Exactly. This site is in urgent need of accurate info (in a very visible place) as to what sexuality actually *is* so that people can stop making assumptions and basing their asexual identity around what they have *assumed* makes a sexual person sexual.

Of course, we would need consensus on what actually makes a person sexual.

It's not something we have to theorize on and come to consensus on as though they are a herd of cows and we have to ''guess'' based on the ways we see them behaving lol. There are sexual people who are very vocal here about what it is that makes them sexual, as well as asexual people with vast knowledge and understanding of sexuality which comes from personal experience. Saying that we need a ''general agreement'' is like saying there is some sort of debate in the matter. There is no debate, there are only facts staring us all straight in the face. A sexual person is a sexual person because under certain circumstances they innately desire partnered sexual contact with other people. It really is that simple. What AVEN needs to do is explain all the different reasons that sexual people have and desire sex (again, it's all there staring us right in the face) so that people coming to AVEN can read through and have a better idea of whether or not they are asexual based on facts about sexuality as a whole. This would be a massive step forward for the education and visibility of asexuality.

Because if we can't even come to agreement on what asexual is, then how can we define sexual? If we can define sexual, then boom, just take the reverse of the statement and make it asexual.

The whole point is that we do know exactly how to define sexuality (what it is to be a sexual person). There are people here (sexual as well as asexual) who have spent weeks, months even, trying to explain it so people understand. The people who fully comprehend sexuality know exactly how to define asexuality, and have been doing so for a long time now. All we need to do is 1) acknowledge what it is people are trying to tell us about what sexuality (and as a result, asexuality) is and 2) make that clear on the front page of AVEN,

Unlike with asexuality, where we have to be setting down definitions among people that have no knowledge about what sexuality is and are just throwing shots in the dark ,sexuality has been studied by many people over many years so theres actually experts in the matter who dedicate their lives to investigate human sexuality. We dont need to set any definition about what being sexual is, we need people to inform themselves about it, theres plenty of data to go around, just a matter of compilating information from respectable sources in one friendly introductory text to be set up somewhere visible here on aven.

Many people come here and are actually confused and want information to help them figure themselves out, whats normal, what could be a minority behaviour etc. It would be a step in the right direction where education actually is seriously considered and attempted.
