Overcoming sexual prejudices

As someone who up until very recently (looks at watch hehe) thought of asexuality as 'reproduction without sex seen in only simple lifeforms' I had to confront this preconceived notion and constantly remind myself when reading about asexuality that everything we may feel is the result of some chemical our brain produces. Sexuality too is the result of our brains and bodies producing chemicals. So when we consider homosexuality or asexuality comparing it to heterosexual we have ot remember our 'normative' thinking relative to us is simply the result of chemicals being produced in our bodies. Just as it is in asexuals, homosexuals, etc. They think and feel exactly the same way heterosexuals might. For them, their disinterest in sex is every bit as normal as a heterosexual's interest in it. Or a homosexual's interest in members of their own sex. Acknowledging this isn't helped by relying on how many of something is in the world though. Yes, heterosexuals are the overwhelming majority. But by virtue of how many somethings there are, that's no reason to regard those that are different as abnormal or needing to be fixed. Be like saying that by virtue of nemotodes being the species on this planet with the most individuals, they're the rulers of the planet. While it's true there are countless times more nemotodes on Earth than people or any other critter, nemotodes are in fact itty bitty worms. :) So do we think everyone and everything should give way to whatever might be best for nemotodes? Of course not. :) Just as with heterosexual normalization, there are other possibilities with just as much right to be how nature made them (or however you like to think about it.)

It should be as simple as that, yet for many people it isn't.
