SithLord
I was just curious about the relation asexuals have to introversion. I was curious if they correlate or not. Edit: Yes, I know this will just be info from AVEN which on top of the obvious fact that not all asexuals are on AVEN or frequent AVEN regularly, it's online which biases the result towards introversion. Doesn't mean I'm not still curious.
Pen Given Ink
I'm a odd kinda introvert. Haha.
Guest
Very introverted. I have a total apathy towards the idea of social or friendship relationships . Just being *near* other people exhausts me, let alone actually talking to them. No thanks! I'd rather sit at home with a cup of tea and audiobook than be near other people, cheers :)

KATA0KA
Sometimes I think I'm an extrovert...but then someone starts talking to me in real life I want to gouge my eyeballs out with a spoon like little grapes. Still, I'm pretty much always down to party.

Annie Mali A.
Well, I consider myself an introvert, but I think it's important to think about what that means. Introverts and extroverts, much like the asexual spectrum, are wide and varied. Some introverts really enjoy partying, others really DON'T. Same with extroverts. I don't consider it a measure of how social you are, or how friendly. What it is to me, is an indicator of where you get your energy. Are you at your best when you're alone, do you feel refreshed when you are alone, and that you can do anything? Do you thrive off of other people's energy? Do you feel tired and lazy when you're alone? Sorry, I kind of went off there. Anyways, I think this poll is a good idea!
Guest
re. introvert/extrovert is where you get your energy:I definitely just *hate* being around other people because it's such an energy drainer for me lol. Its much worse in real life (just dropping my daughter off at kindy and picking her up again knocks me on my arse so bad that I have to sleep like 12 hours that night and then I'm *still* exhausted, it's taking a huge toll on me :() but even AVEN *really* takes it out of me (which I don't understand because I'm not really around other people, just making comments about my opinions on a forums but it still saps me pretty epically) ..I love writing, and the times I've done paid writing I've been really impressed with it and enthusiastic about it until the reader comments come in and then I'm just utterly drained haha.. it's like anything to do with other people just sucks the life right out of me, anything. I'm not antisocial exactly.. .. I mean, I'm pretty good at communicating and being friendly, but I have no friends in real life, because I just can't handle what having real life friends would do to me lol, it'd destroy me. Even just the thought of someone coming to my house for a cup of tea knocks me on my butt lol. I'm in a distance relationship, and wouldn't mind having my partner around because him and I are a lot alike etc, but we'd have separate rooms to hide in etc lol. I also have one or two online friends who I am intellectually close with, but it's not emotional. We're not upset if we don't talk to each other for long periods of time or anything. And parties? Ugh.. Never. Never. Never. Even alcohol can't make parties any more bearable for me.Its definitely safe to say I get my energy from being alone with my fantasy worlds haha. If I had it my way, I'd move into the deepest, darkest cave with books and some writing materials and just live there forever haha... that's my idea of heaven. Mmmm cave (*-*)
Whispearl
I'm an introvert in that prolonged social interaction is more exhausting to me than prolonged alone time, but that's not to say that I hate social interaction. I enjoy it, more so with specific people than others, but it seems to wear me out pretty easily.
SithLord
I understand the differences between extroverts and introverts. I just wanted to see if introvertion correlated with asexuality. Sort of like people thinking we're all shy or just coming up with excuses to not be sexual beings or whatever. I wanted a survey to prove it.
Beyourownspotlight
Introverted. I come home from work exhausted, purely because I'm around people all day (makes it worse most of them have dementia and it's a lot of constant reassuring/comforting/talking to them). I say a quick hello to my gran, then hide in my room the rest of the day/night.

Aworld
Super-introvert. Social interaction just tires me out, especially at school. I'm alright with talking to one or two close friends at a time about something interesting, but when it's small talk with a big bunch of people ... I can't take that! I love being on my own. As for whether aces are more likely to be introverted or not, I'm not sure this is the best place to find out, as the results of this survey might just show the kind of people who are likely to use internet forums, rather than be representative of all aces. That said, this is still really interesting ^_^

Sort of like people thinking we're all shy or just coming up with excuses to not be sexual beings or whatever. I wanted a survey to prove it. As long as no one thinks asexuals are just asexual *because* we are introverts lol (sadly I imagine many people who don't understand asexuality/want reasons to discredit it do say that)... I mean, I imagine *some* don't want sex because they are so introverted (possibly) but many asexuals still want a romantic relationship and non-sexual intimacy etc (though of course some don't which is fine too!) ..all I'm saying is that while many asexuals may be introverted, I don't think that (in most cases anyway) their introversion has anything to do with their lack of desire for partnered sex and/or lack of sexual attraction (depending on one's definition)

TokiC
I'm probably a mix of both now that I think about it. When I'm around people and interacting socially too much, I do feel that my energy drains away and that I need to curl up by myself or do my own thing. But then there are times when I've been alone too long that I have the need to search for people to lift me up. So I guess if it goes to each end to their extreme, I just switch I think... warrigan
some mixture of both...i REALLY like (and, frankly, need!) my alone time. however, i can also feel quite animated and invigorated with a good conversation. :) so, somewhere in the middle, though leaning toward introvert.however, i'd be wary of saying conclusively that asexuals are more introverted. it's my understanding (and this makes sense to me) that people on the internet in general are more likely to be introverts. :)
Conscientious Ghost
I think I'm an ambivert, which it means I gain and drain energy from both crowds and myself. If I'm gaining energy from volunteering in the morning at L.A. Marathon filled with invigorated folks, I look extroverted that day. If I'm gaining energy from coloring a drawing for nearly three hours at 11:00 PM, I look introverted that day. The situation and time depends on me. Pen Given Ink
I don't think I'm like most introverts. :/ I get called weird a lot. I don't mind being around people, people don't drain me, or anything. I do spend a lot of time by myself. But when I'm with friends I can spend days and days and days with them. If I'm in a relationships I never spend a lot of time by myself. Everyone needs alone time sometimes. I interact better with people I know though. It's hard to crawl out of my shell sometimes because of being judged for what it seen. I only feel awkward around people when we don't have anything in common and then I can't wait to get out of there. Sometimes I go out of my way to be with people, or friends. I can't go without social interaction.
Ace-TheTimelordsCompanion
Introvert checking in. I love living by myself. Social stuff can be okay, and I love my family desperately, but I always need that alone time to recharge. It's probably a good thing I'm aro-ace. A lot of introverts on an internet forum, I'm shocked ;) I love AVEN because even though it can be a little stressful, through the social interactions, it is a good way to be social on MY TERMS. No need for an excuse to leave, I just close the tab. Done :D

Skycaptain
I'm naturally quite introverted, but often act and dress in an extrovert manner to hide my inner insecurities. letting people see what I want them to see, such as a bright shirt means I can usually hide what I don't want them to see, such as the skinny body underneath

Mmmm cave (*-*) Boy, that sounds like me. I can relate to a lot of things you experience. I'm a bit surprised, though, because from what you write on the forum I always thought you were more of an extrovert, Ficto. Maybe it's got to do with the discrepancy between written and spoken word? I also love to write and people who merely know me by reading my texts would never think I'm one of the biggest introverts on earth. You should see me in social settings where I have to interact with people I don't know ... I'm super cautious and taciturn, to say the least. But once I get to know someone better, I love to have long conversations with them. Still, even after meeting friends I feel quite drained and I have to 'recharge my batteries'. Anyway, it's great to find people who feel the same! :)
Kuromi Akumura
Extrovert, i love talking to people and spending time with them!! yes i do need alone time but that is usually because of my anxiety or i want to draw and i feel bad if i am not with the person. I can't live alone i need someone to live with me when i move out!!! i want a close best friend/zucchini. I may be aro ace but i enjoy having a companion! i talk just sooooo much i want someone who won't get sick of that and i tend to be clingy >.> . When i have a random thought i want to tell someone XD and affection is nice when it is from certain people in certain circumstances. I don't seek a sexual or romantic relationship but just a intense platonic one because i tend to want to nurture and cling to someone without worrying of being a bother to them, and i kinda have jealousy issues when someone i got a squish on gets in a romantic relationship and forgets about me ^^; I guess i just want someone to be loyal to me yah know? I do need alone days sometimes just to relax and finish drawing or watch something but i hate doing things on me own, i got a pool but i never go swimming unless i have someone to go with. Go going to the movies or for lunch on my own it is sooo boring argh. I talk tlak talk hug hug talk ect OH OH I LOVE SLEEP OVERS!!!!!
