	<span style="font-size:18px;">I'm thrilled Exeter Pride approached me on Instagram to do a workshop for their Exeter Pride event on the 9th of May. They felt like they hadn't had enough representation of asexuality in the past, and wanted to make this year's event, more inclusive. It feels such an honour to have been chosen to do this to represent the asexual community. This is a huge leap forward for asexual representation at Exeter Pride and for inclusivity.<br />
	<br />
	The workshop, which is created and run by me, for Exeter Pride, is an Asexual Confidence and Self-Love Building Workshop. It's an in-person only event at Phoenix arts centre in Exeter, UK - you can check out the venue here <a href="https://exeterphoenix.org.uk/" rel="external nofollow" style="color:#007c89;">https://exeterphoenix.org.uk</a> and my workshop is taking place between 4pm-5pm - so I would like attendees to be there at 3.55pm for a prompt start. Here is the registration link if you want to attend <a href="https://forms.gle/TjeckgMDpynwgCg58" rel="external nofollow" style="color:#007c89;">https://forms.gle/TjeckgMDpynwgCg58</a><br />
	<br />
	Exeter Pride has a parade on that day, followed by a whole host of Pride activities, so you can make a day of it if you want. This is their website<span> <a href="https://www.exeterpride.co.uk/pride-guide" rel="external nofollow">https://www.exeterpride.co.uk/pride-guide</a> </span>There were 10 places in total, but 2 places have already been taken.</span>

	<span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>About The Workshop</strong></span>
</p>

<p style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(34,34,34);font-size:14px;padding:0px;">
	<span style="font-size:18px;">This workshop is designed to help asexuals have increased confidence, self-love and pride, in your asexual identity, through a series of reflective written exercises.<br />
	 <br />
	As asexuals, we can feel alone, left out, and isolated at times, that’s why it’s important to do things that increase your confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, and ultimately self-love, so you can lead a happier, more fulfilling life, and ACE it!<br />
	 <br />
	Being confident in your asexuality and in life itself, is about knowing yourself and loving yourself for who you are, regardless of what anyone else says, thinks, or does. This means spending meaningful time with yourself through self-dating, as well as doing a number of other things to fuel your confidence and self-love, so you don’t allow others’ opinions to drown out your own voice.<br />
	 <br />
	In this workshop, I’m going to explain ways in which this can be achieved and we are going to work our way through a set of written self-reflective exercises in your Asexual Confidence and Self-love workbook, which will be provided as part of the workshop, that you get to keep.<br />
	<br />
	At the beginning of this workshop, I will be sharing a bit about my own asexual journey and by the end of this workshop, you will:</span>
</p>

<p style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(34,34,34);font-size:14px;padding:0px;">

</p>

<p>
	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#222222;font-size:18px;text-align:center;"><span class="ipsEmoji">✅</span> Have a set of Asexuality Principles to live by, that will increase your confidence in your asexuality and act as a safeguard when someone tries to dismiss your asexual identity or make you feel bad about it.</span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#222222;font-size:18px;text-align:center;"><span class="ipsEmoji">✅</span> Be focused on the positives about yourself, so you can understand why you deserve love and happiness and are worthy of it.</span>

You will come up with ideas for this during the workshop that you can implement right away.</span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#222222;font-size:18px;text-align:center;"><span class="ipsEmoji">✅</span> Identify what makes you feel happy and loved, so you can give more of that to yourself.</span>

Think of them as a helpful companion and life guide, tailored specifically to you.</span>
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#222222;font-size:18px;text-align:center;"><span class="ipsEmoji">✅</span> Leave the workshop feeling more empowered, more self-regulated, and more inspired to live your best, authentic, asexual life.</span>

If you have any questions, please let me know.<br />
	<br />
	I will be around after the event if people who travel from afar want to stay for a while in the city and hang out afterwards, and get a drink and maybe some food too, or if you're local and want to hang out, but this will not be part of the workshop. It will just be to socialise and chat afterwards with myself and any other asexuals who want that, as an optional thing, so you can leave as soon as the workshop ends, with no expectation to stay. The venue will be busy with Pride celebrations throughout the day and into the evening usually too. The bar gets pretty busy but it can be a lot of fun to be there during Pride and there are Wetherspoons not too far away - just a short walk, which can be handy for food and drink too.<br />
	<br />
	I understand if you don't live in the UK that this workshop might be too far for you to travel to, but I still thought you would like to know about it, as it's great for asexuality being included in an LGBT+ event - and it helps a lot to raise more awareness of asexuality. </span>

	The article says that Enya has had relationships in the past, even trying to insinuate without evidence that something happened with her producer and his wife, but she is also quoted as saying that she doesn't want to fall in love and get married because her real love is music.  I also reckon that life in a castle with lots of cats will be envied by quite a few people here.

	<br />
	I'm glad to see more studies out that include Asexuals in their research. While it is not very detailed about asexuals, as no categories are added for graysexual people or aromantic vs. romantic, as the author concludes this at the very least proves why asexuals should be included in studies.

			Because of this overlap—and because this analysis is based on the LGBTQ+ sample of the<br>

</blockquote>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	My comments:
</p>

<p>
	In this article, a sex therapist that provides case consultations to other therapists describes some cases other therapists have brought to him about clients questioning their sexual orientation.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One client is "Sam," someone questioning if he is asexual. The author suggests that people don't need the concept of sexual identity to describe their experiences. He says that the asexual community cannot even figure out what asexual means and invents their own discrimination. He also says that Alyce, a client questioning if she's bisexual, should not adopt the bisexual label because it apparently stifles personal growth and is an excuse for her marriage dissatisfaction.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Holy hell, this is just awful. This was posted on a blog for mental health professionals that is run by a massive website that hosts probably the biggest therapist directory in the United States. Hell, I've found three of my therapists on there. I don't even know where to begin about how aphobic (and biphobic) this article is. Asexuality does have a definition. It's literally the first thing you see when you go to the AVEN main page. Ace discrimination is not just a "raised eyebrow." In many countries unmarried people (including aces) have restricted legal rights and can face forced marriage, honor killings, and violence. Aces everywhere face corrective rape and systemic judgement.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I know it's just one dude's opinion, but it reflects what common views therapists have about asexuals. Should the ace community adopt a more exact definition of asexuality? Should aces that are more scholarly develop education guides for mental health professionals? I don't know. I just had to post this here.

<p>
	Not entirely asexuality-related, but given that nudity aversion is not entirely unrelated to asexuality and some asexuals are nudity-averse, I decided to post it. I always felt intensely uncomfortable about women's athletic outfits - on the level of feeling an unpleasant jolt of empathy, because, like the athlete mentioned, I could never appear in public in clothing like the currently typical women's track and field bikinis. Actually, even her new outfit would be too skimpy for me, but on the political level I think that this is the way to go. Women shouldn't be taught that their value depends on being attractive to men. They should feel free to refuse sexual attractiveness completely, to be just people doing what they love doing, and not providing yet another message that women are available sex objects to which every men should feel entitled.

	Hi all! I'm excited to let you know that I was recently published in a book filled with diverse sexual (and my asexual) experiences called, "Pillow Talk" an Awfully Hilarious Anthology. I also did the audio recording for my chapter. We reached number one on Amazon's best seller list recently!! YAY! It's been interesting doing book talks and readings with other writers in the book (each chapter is written by different people) who share their sexual experiences alongside my asexual perspective. I've found it very empowering and unifying to be a part of this collective....but...I can't bring myself to read the whole book because it's all about sex... LOL

	Hi ACE Community, I am so thrilled to share with you that I've been featured in an article on Medium by Sophie Ward, who although not asexual herself, was really keen to make sure she presented my personal asexual story accurately and get even the little details right.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I think it's lovely when you come across people who truly accept and value you for who you are and who want to make sure they represent unique underrepresented voices, in the best way possible and who genuinely care.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Here is the article, titled -  Award-Winning Speaker Sandra Bellamy Is Amplifying Visibility for the Asexual Community, if you would like to take a look at</strong> it <a href="https://medium.com/@sophward024/award-winning-speaker-sandra-bellamy-is-redefining-visibility-for-the-asexual-community-4e1a60e4e693" rel="external nofollow">https://medium.com/@sophward024/award-winning-speaker-sandra-bellamy-is-redefining-visibility-for-the-asexual-community-4e1a60e4e693</a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(36,36,36);">Article excerpt - “As a child, I was bullied in both primary and secondary school and I grew up believing my voice didn’t matter,” she said. “Winning this award feels like I proved those bullies wrong. It’s recognition that my voice does matter and that it’s making a difference to others lives in a meaningful way"</span></span></strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have been helping asexuals for over a decade now and I try to raise awareness and visibility of asexuality wherever I go. Next week I am speaking at AI South West Live which is a tech event, and even there I will be mentioning asexuality at the very beginning of my talk.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(36,36,36);">Article excerpt - "Her mission is clear: to see asexuality recognised as a valid sexual orientation in its own right globally — so no asexual is silenced or has to live in fear of ridicule ever again."</span></span></strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	This means I talk about asexuality a lot outside of the LGBTQIA+ community and in different contexts - even if they are unconventional ones. Why? Because unfortunately heterosexuality is still the biggest sexual orientation and so I believe to change the course of history  - to get more people to understand asexuality and to accept it, I need to reach that majority and make them aware of what asexuality actual is and isn't ,and that it's normal for some people to be asexual - there is nothing wrong with us. It's normal for some of us to not like, want, need, or get the urge for sex and that's okay.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>This is a short video I did about the article, just talking through the beginning part of it  - but please see the full article for more details.</strong>

	Hi everyone!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Mods, please move to a different forum if need be. I was wondering how to best identify, track, research and follow developments about asexuality internationally. Where does one look to find these stories and projects?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Tyger Songbirds' SubStack has all sorts of stories from everywhere: <a href="https://tygersongbird.substack.com/?source=user_about----------------------954c3b5e8545----------------------" rel="external nofollow">https://tygersongbird.substack.com/?source=user_about----------------------954c3b5e8545----------------------</a>

	Hi Ace Community
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So for those of you who follow me on my socials - especially my <a href="https://www.youtube.com/asexualisemyasexuallife" rel="external nofollow">Asexualise My Asexual Life</a> channel, you will know that I live and breathe asexuality, daily.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm constantly trying to push myself out of my comfort zone to bring asexuality to new audiences and today I am speaking at AI South West Live, which is organised by Tech South West.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Here is their speaker page <a href="https://www.techsouthwest.co.uk/ai-south-west/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.techsouthwest.co.uk/ai-south-west/</a> This is a sold out event that is only available in person offline.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Now most people would not associate asexuality with AI at all, the would not see the link or relevance, but I do.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Asexuality is the very thing I am going to talk about first, briefly, in regard to AI. This is what I am planning to say <span class="ipsEmoji">🙂</span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<b>2014 was year I discovered I’m asexual in sexual orientation, which means I lack sexual attraction. I still get romantically and aesthetically attracted towards guys, I just don’t want sex.</b>
</p>

<p>
	<b> </b>
</p>

<p>
	<b>For decades asexuals have been mocked for having loving, caring, committed relationships without physical sex and now millions of people are having these types of relationships with AI, in the biggest relationship revolution of all time.</b>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Then I got to the stats to prove what I am saying is true.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I hope with me keep repeating this message over and over again to those in the AI space and others, that people will begin to see sexless relationships as a good thing and therefore asexuality will be more widely accepted.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I talk about the asexual work I do on my new date ai bot .com site - and the new book I am writing called - How to Date an AI Bot - Build Relationships with AI Companions Confidently and Safely.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I do believe more and more asexuals will have relationships with AI in the future - I would consider having a robotic boyfriend <span class="ipsEmoji">😉</span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

	Know someone who makes videos about asexuality? Post it here and I will add it to the list!

<p>

</p>

<p>
	To be included in this list, the youtuber should have at least 2 asexual videos posted to their channel. I will list them alphabetically according to their channel name. All are English channels unless otherwise noted. (A's are broken up on purpose to make it easier to read.)

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	To make posts easier for our team to index and archive, please include the information above (feel free to copy and paste that list directly). If you want to include <strong>any of these things in your Title</strong>, that will be extra helpful.

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	At the end of the year, World Watch threads are <a href="https://www.asexuality.org/en/forum/108-world-watch-archive/" rel="">archived</a> into their proper yearly threads.

	Here you can find things about asexuality (and things close to that on the sexual spectrum) in languages other than English.

	Hi All! Have those of you in the U.S. been watching the White House memos and Presidential Actions? There have been two so far on sexual orientation and gender identity, the second of which included "I" for intersex in the community acronym. <em><strong>Wouldn't it be amazing if we could get asexuality included? </strong></em>Who has ideas? Let's brainstorm here, and feel free to message me directly too. I work in this space professionally and it's also (obviously) a personal passion of mine. I would love for us to make something happen!

	I had this reserved to view on Amazon Prime, but when I clicked to view it, it now says that it's unavailable to view. I thought maybe I could buy it on dvd, but searches on both Amazon and eBay have been fruitless. As a last resort, I'm asking around here.

	So, does anybody have any suggestions?

<p>
	Hello,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm looking for short-stories to include in my English literature class about short stories. The other teachers have made a good effort to include literature by female authors and people of colour, as well as Native American literature, and I'd like to add at least one story with some lgbt+-ness (as a theme, personified in a character, or a subversion of heteronormativity), and hopefully a story including disability as well.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I've of course looked online, but the stories I find don't feel like they're very adapted to the class, too much focussed on the lgbt character and not very good for the writing itself (the class' point is to give students the basics of literary analysis, so it shouldn't be too amateurish). Ugh, this sounds very elitist, I'm sorry. I read this kind of story, but I also need it to be good enough for my colleague to accept it, since we're sharing the class.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It also needs to be short, 1 to 4 pages maximum, and originally written in English (can't be a translation) but it can be from anywhere in the world. It's a first year university class, so the students should be about 18-19. Not native speakers, but they need to be challenged, so they shouldn't necessarily be easy reads.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Anyone knows something that fits the description? Feel free to send ideas, I'd love some LGBT+ reading anyway <img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="https://www.asexuality.org/en/uploads/emoticons/smile.png" srcset="https://www.asexuality.org/en/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" /></p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks <span><img alt=":cake:" data-emoticon="" src="https://www.asexuality.org/en/uploads/emoticons/cake.gif" title=":cake:" /></span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	PS: bonus points if the story is online for free <span class="ipsEmoji">😛</span>
</p>
