Question for A's who masturbate

Very definately B I concur with those who said they want to be free of the habit. Every so often anywhere from a few times a day(rare) to a couple wks apart I'll get hit by an undefined "distraction" that I know will go away if I take care of business. I can't say I derive any pleasure from doing it, but when I'm done I can go back to what I was doing without any further distraction.
Same here.

i like to and wish i had time to every morning. it wakes me up and then at night when i can't sleep because of an overactive brain, i will at those times because it puts me to sleep. i don't understand how it wakes me up and puts me to sleep. a good cup of coffee can wake me up just as fast but i buy my coffee out cuz any time i've owned a coffee pot i make black sludge so i have to masturbate to get up to get to the coffee shop to buy my coffee to really wake me up.

A for me, although I don't do it as much as some people... Once a week or so. Mostly I do it because I find that an orgasm releases built-up tension. I would rather accomplish that via a week on the beach however.

I do it every couple of days, because it feels nice. I used to think that by doing it would make me more receptive to a penis, but nay.

So yeah, see I read that masturbation and arousal form certain chemicals, and when you orgasm, it releases counter chemicals to make you feel satisfied. And it does. It feels a lot like relaxing.

edit: I also do want to be free of the habit though. I got my first orgasm from it last year (before then I gave up too early because it was boring), and have done it regularly since then, but I do find it gross, and I feel like a deviant when I do it.

I said this in another thread but I'll say it again. If you only want to stop masturbating because you're ashamed of it you should read the book Sex For One. There is no reason to be ashamed of it. On the other hand if you want to stop doing it because it interferes with getting other things done then that's a different matter.

Well yeah, it is a waste of time. I wish a lot of the time I would just hurry up and get a damned orgasm instead of waiting around for half an hour.

I am not really ashamed of it - I know it is totally normal, but it still feels icky and I can't help feeling a bit dirty, no matter what I really think about it mentally.

'B', when it happens, which is not often. The feeling of arousal is really repulsive and it has a tendency to distract you from real life. I do kind of enjoy it when it happens, but I'm extremely repulsed by it afterwards. I also feel that everything involved has become very dirty and I try and not to touch anything before I've had the chance to use a lot of soap to clean myself. If I accidentally touch something, it becomes filthy too, and I have problems with it for a long time.

I get the feeling of arousal from time to time, which is when I might do quite often and then there might be ages when it wouldn't even cross my mind. If it doesn't cross my mind in a really long time, 'C' kicks in.

Unfortunately I need something to keep my mind off of it, which usually means some sort of a fetish or porn (or similar, nothing involving actual sex). The major downside to it is that during every day life, I find both of those really repulsive which makes me quite ashamed of them during real life. Especially porn I feel is really bad thing to have around, but I've got to get it done sometimes because of 'C', and it's the only way to keep my mind off from what I'm doing, which repulses me.

Some people said earlier in this thread that they want to be freed from this nuisance. I definately concur. Life without it would be a definite relief.

I tell you what, I do it for all five of the reasons. Actually only four of the reasons until I found out there to be truth behind option 'C.' Mentally, it feels wierd until you realize it is a natural act that--even though I am uncomfortable in sharing with anyone else--should be taken advantage of. Furthermore, my self-diagnosis as an asexual presents a lingering possibility that I may never have a life that is considered 'normal,' by which I mean "happily married with kids." I may or may not be fine with that--after all the grass is always greener on the other side--but it's nice to feel normal once in a while.

As for me, the main reason is that it feels good.

It's something between A and B. I feel no real obligation to do it, so I really don't do it a lot (because I don't have too :D), but if I do it, it's just for the end pleasure. I get nothing *while* I'm doing it.

B, E and perhaps D. My morning erections last for quite some time, so I wait until everyone's downstairs and rush into the bathroom. Also, when I started I hpoe maybe it would encourage sexual thoughts. Now it's just developed into some habit though, I do it oncea day despite not even enjoying it, neither the masturbation or the orgasm. Yeah, I'd like to stop too.

I'd have to go with B way more than A (which I think might be odd for someone who isn't properly asexual). It's rarely all that pleasurable a thing for me, but if I don't do it then I'll literally lose sleep while my hormone-infected brain spews out random sexual thoughts. Once in a while if I'm particularly stressed or in a bad mood I'll do it when I don't have to, in the second case because it takes my mind off things and sorta acts as a "reset" button on my mood. That's rare though - mostly it's just to keep my hormones in check and my head relatively clear.

Mostly B, very occasionally A, and which one means 'because I want to get to sleep'? That's actually the most common.

A. because you like to and want to

I love masturbating but don't do it often. There is usually a week about once every 6 weeks that I masturbate in. During this time I get really horny and crave orgasms. I sometimes masturbate 2 or 3 times in a day. The rest of the weeks I have no sexual arousal whatsoever. When I do have it I never want anyone else to have anything to do with me sexually. It's a self love type of thing 8)

generally i dont get aroused by anything much...but maybe about once or twice a month i will get the urge...and it bugs me...so i masturbate to get rid of the feeling...afterwards i usually feel really crap and totally un satisfied..almost guilty :?

Can people who have had sex tell me if the orgasm is more pleasurable or the same or less pleasurable than the self-induced version?

I have had orgasms from masturbation that are incredible, so much so I would not want or actually need another person to pleasure me.

I wonder if anyone could? Moreover a stronger orgasm would verge on scary, I could not imagine something stronger than my strongest orgasm except heroin or something likewise foolish. These only occur when I deeply fantasize a situation, but I have found that I am no longer capable of masturbating like this. It just doesn't work because I know it's false, that I don't have this desire.

If I use pornography it is hardly the same, and pornography has other reasons and motivations intertwined within it beyond the obvertly sexual.

I agree. I can't imagine it getting any better than what I can give myself.

That's actually kind of a hard question.

Most of the time for me it works out that the orgasm is slightly less intense, but the lead-up is a lot better. However, that doesn't hold true all the time, and I'd say my best orgasms ever have come from sex.

I also usually have a few orgasms per masturbation, while during sex I tend to only have one or two - but they are more satisfying during sex.

Of course, since I'm sexual, I have a different emotional response to sex, and I get a lot more fulfilment from it than I do from masturbating. The inclusion of another person makes it a totally different experience, and one that I like a lot better.

C

to make my period slightly more regular

I had no idea masturbating could make a period more regular...any chance you could reference a study or something?

Are there any other health benefits for women?

And I also never knew it could be a sleep aid.

I don't masturbate but my ex-husband put a lot of pressure on me to be sexual while we were married, so during my marriage I experimented with the various toys he wanted me to try, and I learned to masturbate to orgasm, so I am quite capable of it...but they don't feel like anything other than a series of muscle spasms. No pleasure or anything. So I stopped as soon as I got the divorce and the pressure to be sexual was off. But I am curious if there are health benefits for women. My friend told me that orgasms get better the more you have. But they were never any good for me in the first place, so I'm not sure what "better" would be....

I didnt know that masturbation is healthy for people.

Although I feel option A and D is almost same, so I feel both options are equal for me. And C too, if it is healthy for females, hehe... ^^;

I'm willing to bet no one has ever done a study on that. It's only been in the last 10 years that female masturbation has been acknowledged as existing.
