Demisexual Symbols That Can Be Worn?

This one is more visually pleasing. The fleur de lis has many meanings behind its symbol, but in regards to sexuality, it has taken a meaning in chastity, purity, and virginity. This can be confusing because we are not choosing to avoid sex, but rather, we just don't feel that sexual attraction first hand.

Maybe just a grey fleur de lis? It's pretty easy to find jewelry with that already, and I like the idea of a symbol that is personally meaningful but unobtrusive.

I like both of these. A Fluer-De-Lis is an unobtrusive symbol like the Spade. It has some connotation with chastity, purity, etc. but is also associated with passion and virtue. Since we get accused of being celibate or prudish anyway, this is a pretty good symbol for 'pride'.

I think an advanced form of this as a demisexual symbol could include the asexual stripes, but any of the colors would do. Solid purple, gray, black, are all good color choices, as they're not commonly seen to represent other things.

This is more aesthetically pleasing than the lopsided heart-triangle, and this symbol isn't hard to find in jewelery, etc.

I am going to run with this.

Sticking my nose in here. Admittedly I'm grey and not demisexual, but I still like the idea of a grey ring. I've toyed with the idea of getting a silver-black-silver ring for my right middle finger, but haven't done it as yet. ADP suggested a grey fleur de lis, and I love this! If I could find a grey-black-grey or silver-black-silver ring with a petoskey fleur de lis set into it, I'd pounce on it so quickly... I suspect anything that specific would have to be custom, though.

the problem with gray rings is that such rings wouldn't really be all that different from the other silver rings that i and everyone else typically wears. it wouldn't be easily distinguishable at all, and thus would hold very little meaning imho. :/

Not necessarily if you wear a dark grey ring. Hematite is a great choice. It's a natural stone, too dark to be confused with silver, but not really black, and with metallic glints. And hematite jewels are easy to find and cheap.

A couple of generations ago, a group of people were forced to wear symbols showing that they were not part of the ideal mainstream community - as defined by the Nazis.

So I don't exactly understand why people would choose to wear a symbol that, at the very best, might inspire conversation. At worst, it would be a bullseye.

We are individuals and as the posts on this site seem to indicate, the spectrum is wider than any other group of folks I have ever seen.

So wear what looks good - you know who you are!

Yes, because what we are doing is asking people to out themselves. How did you know my plan.

I like the idea of a ring... I don't wear them much but it's subtle. What about a type of stone? That's representative of demi... Not sure which though id have to do some research

I like the idea, I don't wear much jewelry though but I would wear the ring.

I've always thought it would be just fine for grays and demis to use asexual symbols. It honestly doesn't take a whole lot of time to explain that you're gray/demi to someone who recognized an asexual symbol (such as the black ring) in the first place. I think the whole point of the asexual community is that it's a spectrum and everyone who fits underneath the blanket of asexuality/gray-asexuality/demisexuality should be able to use the same symbols with pride.

i totally agree when it comes to the asexuality flag/colors. hell, gray-asexuality and demisexuality are even represented among those colors. i wouldn't use the symbol of an ace, for example, to represent demisexuality, however.

my asexuality-colored pride bracelet just arrived in the mail yesterday. now my pride bracelet collection is complete! ^_^

.....and then i looked at the seller's Etsy shop again and saw this. ugh, want!

oh my god i am going to cry

I have to say that person's etsy is the most beautiful thing i have ever witnessed

i MUST get something there!

I love the idea of wearing bracelets with the flag colours, but I think you don't even necessarily have to buy them - if you used everyday coloured wool or thick thread, it would be easy and cheap to make and could be recognisable to everyone wearing it. (i.e, someone who is not demisexual or grey-A wouldn't put the effort in to make a bracelet of those specific colours). I do like the idea of a grey ring, but I get the feeling that they might be kinda difficult to find :)

I'm thinking gray As and demis could both wear gray rings, but I don't know if that would be confusing or not. Gray for gray As because... gray and gray for demis because it's kind of half way between black and white. They seem appropriate for both.

I had a hematite ring. It broke within the week. It was not strong enough, at all. I let it fall three times, and it shattered. All three times were from the height of my waist, more or less, and I am a shorter person. So if any of you choose one, be careful with it and don't love it too much.

There are different qualities of hematite. Some are natural and some are synthetic, and some synthetic "hematite" isn't even real hematite at all. So if ever a hematite ring breaks, I recommend to not buy another ring from the same seller.

I like the idea of a dark grey ring, as a Demi.
But I'd probably get one with a heart etched on it or something, as I quite like the black and white heart someone posted earlier.

Or like, a star, 'cause those are cool xD

What about a black ring with a silver stripe(s) or silver ring with a black stripe(s)? I found some pretty cool ones that are relatively inexpensive.

I like the idea of a grey ring as well; mostly because I've had an easier time finding fashion rings in brushed or gun metal and I *really* don't want to spend that much. Plus, I've found some really nice ones at Target and/or Walmart. 😊

I've been thinking about this a little bit recently. As a Demi symbol, I really like the idea of wearing a black/grey ring with a purple stone or stripe on it or something.

I saw a black ring yesterday (I was browsing, might buy one, not sure yet).
Anyway it had the Fleur de Lis logo on it, so that might be one option to display demisexuality and still have the ring be black.

I think I'd dig purple and black as well.

I like the Hematite ring. It's simple, cheap & not that common. & I think we should use it as a gray-a symbol, & not just demisexual, as demisexuality is a type of gray-asexuality.

Though the fleur de lis is elegant & visible, it's meaning is that of chastity & celibacy. I don't think it's a good idea to use this symbol, as we're already being invalidate as abstinent or prude.

I could wear the ring on my middle finger and if someone tries to erase me, I could just show them the ring. (One of my friends intentionally or not, kind of misunderstood and erased me, so I'm in one of those moods, lol).

I once found a black ring with a grey pattern on it. It was a sort of Celtic knot, I think. Unfortunately they didn't have my size. :( I think I would go for something like that. It is black for asexuality, grey for, well, grey.

My mom is having a jewelry party tomorrow and I'm hoping to locate my black/grey ring then.

Stupid question, maybe, but since when did the Fleur de Lis become a symbol for chastity and/or celibacy.

It's always been the national symbol of France and, since they were France's pop-culture ambassadors amongst the Satuday morning cartoons, the Three Musketeers'. But maybe that's just me.

I'm going to Pride in Amsterdam next week, so I happily clicked on your topic... I confess I find the idea of a ring very appealing. I may poke around some jewelry stores and have to treat myself to a souvenir :)

I hadn't thought that far. I googled the demisexual pride flag and bought black, light grey and purple eye pencils to draw it on my cheek or bicep. White is hard to find.

Don't some of the grays wear a black ring with a gray band? I won't mind wearing that or the gunmetal ring.
