I don't care about the actual holiday. Other than it's chocolate time and I can decapitate bunnies with great joy. Nowadays, it means I get 4 days off work in a ROW!! Exciting prospect even though I am pretty damn sure I'm not going to be doing anything exciting.

Four days off is the exciting thing you'll be doing! :D

I get Easter Sunday off BUT I have to take a day out of my annual allowance. It isn't a Bank Holiday because the banks aren't open. It's one of the days the company (and most retail stores in the UK) opts to close as required by Sunday Trading Law. Although the store is closed so I can't work, I still have to 'compensate' the company for the day off. It isn't unique to our company, as I said, most retail stores have the same ruling.

I'm off this weekend (it's Mothering Sunday in the UK) and next Sunday...yay me!!!

I'm sorry the return period on March has expired. However, you may exchange it shortly for April.

The title of this thread attracted me. Soon I will be eating matzo farfel! And matzo brie, matzo kugel, matzo lasagna, matzo with nutella.....by the end of Pesach, you're sick of trying to think of ways to eat matzo! But it makes challah taste all the sweeter! What can you do? Eating it's a mitzvah!

Following on from the poll conducted recently I am changing the name of this thread, as the majority of those who voted agreed with this idea

Er, you do mean a poll other than the poll which begins this thread?

For context with previous posts…what was the title before?

Welcome, tqz :cake::cake::cake:

It was "Farfel farfel pipik", which puzzled many people (like me) who didn't know the derivation. The poll mentioned was a poll conducted by the previous mod, mainly to find out how we felt about unpinning some of the threads in the "oldies" forum, but also about changing the name of this thread to something easier to understand.

Ah, thank you! That helps explain the egregiously gratuitous farfel references, just as fantastic as they were prior my ignorance.

Well, here's something rather amusing. Duo Vermillion (a violin/piano duo) had a recital scheduled in our area last Saturday. After the snowfall, they posted the following message, postponing the concert:

The poet Burns said it best ...

"The best-laid schemes o' mice an 'men gang aft agley"

While we set out to face the perils of the Blue Mountains snowfall undaunted, Mother Nature has won the day, and turned us into "wee, sleekit, cow'rin, tim'rous beasties" nonetheless.

With black ice on the roads, and slippery ice on the footpaths, in the interest of safety we decided to postpone.

After all, "break a leg" is something that's said to performers, not to audience members!

Hey, Tja...how's this for a mall? Holts Arcade in India Buildings is one fo the many architectural wonders in Liverpool.

There's also a picture of the ballroom in St George's Hall (8th line down in the middle). The tiled floor is covered up pretty well all the time which is why it's in pristine condition. The first ball held there wasn't a great success...they couldn't dance on the tiles :(.

They're all tiny specialist shops - not a 'Name' in sight :D

We'll have to go shopping when I come visit. ;)

With some of those little shops, get two people in there and it's overcrowded :D If you want to pass each other you have to go sideways there isn't room for anything else...I think you'd love them :D

That is an awesome mall, Tan. It reminds me of one in Zagreb, but that one was much smaller.

Final punch line from the stand-up comedian I went to see last night:

(following a rant about the way people commented on his having aged/not aged over the past 20 years)

"And if anyone had told me, at the beginning of this year, that a woman was going to make me feel very bad, and a teenage boy would make me feel very good, I would have said 'Sh-t, man, I'm going to gaol!' "

News headline on TV this evening:

Call for meditations with codeine to be prescription only.

Is this something new? Guess I need to update my meditation technique ;)
